He is trolling. He doesn’t care about the actual truth or 4th amendment rights. He either too stupid or he is trolling. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is trolling. Although I am starting to wonder if it is the former.
Yeah who cares if it is excessive force that infringes on 4th amendment rights. You shouldn’t disrespect the cops or else? Am I right?
It's the "most of the time" sub-context here that is key. In America, you are innocent until proven guilty. If you presume guilt, you will always find guilt. I agree with you that Hill could have handled himself better. No dispute. The nuance here, is just because he handles himself poorly, that does not give the officer free license to do as he/she wants. That seemingly small nuance has massive repercussions. Two seemingly opposite things can be simultaneously true. It's true that Hill's behavior was not ideal. It's also true that the officer's behavior was not ideal.
The larger persistent problem is not teeny tiny, and that is not what I meant. Discussing the minutiae of one single traffic stop that clearly escalated feels teeny tiny to me, versus the same day having a nationally televised debate with an (obvious, sorry y'all) racist telling America that immigrants will actually eat their pets. Not arguing. And I agree with you about policing in this country overall. I know PE's discography almost to the word and incarceration is another, huge and related issue (Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos comes to mind). Cheers.
Or maybe you don't care to listen to our argument. You don't escalate the situation just because you feel disrespected. Not sure why you are putting these officers on a pedestal. These are the kind of actions that lead to lawsuits which taxpayers ultimately have to foot the bill. Maybe the truth is that you don't give a **** about the rights we are granted by the constitution. Even lowlifes have rights. Let's back track: They got his information (license and registration). He rolled down his window initially to give them said information and they had a few short seconds to determine if their safety was compromised. So he technically complied despite Tyreek being an ******* himself. The power trip came when the officer decided that his position of authority gave him the power to violate Tyreeks rights.
Yea, this one event is silly. Totally agree with you! It's one entitled prick battling another entitled prick. On a personal level, I could give a rats arse. My irk is the immediate defense of LEOs and that they are always justified in all their behaviors because they have a "hard job". Funny you raise the debate because The Orange One said that the one woman should not have lost her life during the insurrection. Notes, he never mentioned that actual peace keepers that lost their lives. In this instance, he defended the law breakers. Maddening.
Thats right 100 But when they fuc. k around n find out then they cry human rights, 4th amendment like our buddy @AleksandarN Hill is a grown man who brought this upon himself, he never would have been yanked out of his vehicle if he were complying.
True. You want to know what is also true? The officer has been put on administrative leave. The department was forced to hold a press conference. The department will now have to spend resources perform an internal investigation. The Officer is a grown man who brought this upon himself if he didn't yank Hill out of his vehicle if he tempered his own emotions.
Thats just formality, he'll be back on the force a week from now (once everything cools off). He's done nothing wrong
What are appropriate sanctions for treating public servants like ****? Just let people go around treating DMV employees/cops/judges/school bus drivers/nurses/teachers etc etc like trash? and people wonder why we have a critical shortage of these professions - because the public regularly treat public servants like **** and nobody faces any consequences. You facilitate that conduct by providing 0 consequences. Boo-Hoo Hill got pulled out of his car, didn't get hurt at all and was held up for 15 minutes. How onerous.
There were more consequences for Hill than for the crackpots who harrass and threaten poll workers and voting officials based on fabrications they read on social media. I agree that we need to hold people accountable for terrible behavior toward public servants and I agree that, at least in my lifetime, it's gotten worse.
Right, not like he got shot or beat up, dude kissed the ground little bit for acting like a child. Parents used to spank kids 20-30 years ago, so the cops had to act like they were his parents for a second because he was misbehaving.
Yep, ...and Hill was immediately released and played the game. Not breaking a law doesn't mean you aren't a douchbag. As Ventura said, you can't legislate stupidity. That statement applies to both sides here. So this could have been all avoided if: A.) The officer didn't over-react and escalate an otherwise minor issue. B.) Hill was more compliant. So you are correct. But I am also correct. The nuanced part (and bigger part) of this story is that the officer escalated a very minor situation into something bigger than it was to satisfy his own ego, despite that he didn't break any laws.
It has definitely gotten worse - there is an erosion of respect for authority figures. Some of that is having authority figures fail us - and a media that can report it all. Some of that is a lack of "teeth" for authority figures now.
Authority figures have more "teeth" now than before. The difference is the voting public is emotionally invested in one side or the other and don't hold the authority figures accountable for bad behavior Authority figures act with impunity knowing that their base will keep justifying their bad behavior. So the question is why do people feel so emotional? Facts don't matter Laws don't matter (much)
Apparently he was going 120mph in a 40. He's lucky they didn't take him to jail for reckless driving n he's lucky they even bothered to knock on his window (usually you're getting yanked out no questions asked for that). Turns out the boys in blue are the good guys once again N remember whatever you do make sure you support the blue
Okay. One could infer we need to call out the disrespectful behavior wherever it exists and impacts public servants or any fellow citizens, really. And in particular, we should all ask ourselves if we have narrowly selected outrage about bad behavior.
"According to the citations, which were released by Miami-Dade police Tuesday, police estimated that Hill's McLaren 720S coupe was traveling about 60 mph before the stop. The speed limit in that stretch of road near Hard Rock Stadium is 40 mph."
