I hate fake fans who act like they love the rockets and yet always call me when they get tix for a game, to borrow a jersey, t-shirt or cap. Yeah real big fans! you don't even have a freakin rockets tshirt!!

Oh really!! yeah those "fans" really suck!!!!

Also they are two more types or fans:

    1) The fans of the whole team, and no matters what players leave the team, they are always going to be a rocket fans.

    2) The fans that they are only here for one player and they leave when the player leaves the team, and also they are always dissing other players on the team.

    1. rockets fans

    2. everybody else.

    that's all that matters.

I've grown up with this team, and have been a fan for 14 years. I started off at the very top when they became Champs in '94 and '95. I have stuck with this team through all the ups and downs, and have become a bigger fan every year. Growing up with the Rockets has really made me feel apart of the team, and I can't imagine how my life would be without them.

I was recently looking through some old papers I had done in Elementary school, and I found one that I wrote in 1997. It was a paper about me and my friends traveling around in a Houston Rockets air-balloon. We traveled around the world, but during this trip we made a stop at The Summit to watch the Rockets beat the Jazz. :D (Too bad it didn't actually happen that year, but this was my dream! )

    Does your Rockets fandom:

    Show on your driveway?

    Show on your cellphone wallpaper?

Show on your desktop computer wallpaper?

Show on your laptop computer wallpaper?

Show up on every computer you have access to?

Show up as icon shortcut links in your toolbar on every computer you access?

    Show in your wardrobe?

    Show on your hat rack?

Show on at least two walls in your house?

Show on more than one wall in the garage?

Come up in conversation with complete strangers when in Houston?

Come up in conversation with complete strangers when in Texas cities other than Houston?

Come up in conversation with complete strangers when out of state?

Come up in conversation with complete strangers when on vacation, even during off season?

Cause you to buy things on ebay during any time of year, because it was Rockets related?

Make you pull u-turns because you think you saw a team logo in a yard sale?

Appear to be the only driving factor in your NBA trading card collection?

Appear in your VHS and DVD collections?

Appear in other collections, such as Coke bottles or dish sets?

Force you to take your lunches in team logo cold pack bags?

Cause you to surround every 12 ounce aluminum canned beverage by way of team logo koozie?

Drive you to educate yourself on how to use such things as "sopcast, torrent, or youtube?"

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
Many more... but if you said yes to these... then yes... you are a "true" fan.

Old school vs. New school -both can do all these things.

    You get the idea.

BTW, I got into the "Rockets" by virtue of Phi Slamma Jamma. I remember my dad watching those games & speak of the opportunity to draft Clyde. Then the b****ing when they didn't. Then it sunk in after watching Akeem's senior season & the draft.

That was the defining moment for me.

Ever since then, Rockets & only Rockets for me. No other team, and very few other players on other teams capture my heart.

And I'm probably a true definition of a fan: a FANatic. (fan addict anyone?)

When I walk around wearing Rockets shoes, red socks, red shorts, Rockets jersey, Rockets hat . . . IN DALLAS!

Hopefully, most bandwagon fans don't know about Clutchfans. If people are joining like crazy, then you know what's up.

I was at a wings place when we played the Celtics (real fans use "we" instead of "the Rockets" quite more often), and this lady and her friends were so loud and kept yelling "yay Rockets!" When one of our players scored, she would yell "good shot you, make that shot" or something like that. Then by the 4th quarter, she and her friends got up and left, but not before she yelled out "these guys suck!!!" that's the definition of a bandwagon fan right there.

Man I still have my old Hakeem jersey from when I was like 8 years old. A real fan could tell you the starting line up of the 01-02 Rockets. Franchise, Cat, Terrence Morris, Maurice Taylor, and Kelvin Cato!

In my opinion, the two types of fans are:

    fans who label other fans
fans who don't label other fans

And there is only one true Old School fan here: tinman

I remember thinking Oscar Torres was going to be an all-star in the future lol. I was excited about b/c he was our only athletic swingman.

Haven't read any post on this thread but I will describe my view.

    Realist..

T-mac - No heart, injury prone, mad skills, and exciting at times.. Trade him in the off-season: YES!

Yao - not athletic and just average on D because of his height.. Has developed some nice post up moves but quicker centers just eat him alive. I believe he is the 2nd best center in the league behind D. Howard. Trade him: YES!... Will it happen: NO! He's a cash cow for Les and even if he sucked to the point where he was averaging 5pts 2rebounds a game Les still wouldn't trade him..

Team needs help at the 4/5.. We are just not big/tall enough... Scola,Landry,Chuck are nice but they are undersized and it shows against big teams ( competitive, playoff teams).

What i want in the off-season is for them to really look at getting a backup Big for Yao. Yao is injury prone and it's just because of how Huge this man is. Really his height is a double edge sword. 2nd. Trade T-mac for Artest, Redd+Charlie, something comparable.. yes yes we all heard you will never get equal value for him... I'm not wanting equal value in return just decent... we have him for only 2 more years after this season and then what? Extend his contract? Hell no get something for him.

The Big I want them to go get this off-season is Desagna Diop.. It looks like he is a free agent after this season.. If we got him then i think we would really be a title contender if the team stayed the same. if Diop is not available how about 1 of Seattles big since that team is trying to rebuild.
