I don't know how to tie one. Not that it's usually an issue , but when I was in the Rice band we all wore ties. I would always get someone else to tie it, then try to leave the knot in it and slip it on and off so I wouldn't have to deal with that again. Ties are stupid. I mean, they can look nice, but they can't be comfortable. It's the male equivalent of having to wear things like pantyhose and uncomfortable shoes...
I love wearing ties. They don't have to be uncomfortable (as with all formal clothing). If you buy the right clothes and tie the tie properly, it's not uncomfortable at all. The tightness of the tie around your neck all depends on how tightly you tighten it (you can easily loosen or tighten it as you wish). Since I was a kid, I've always known how to tie a windsor, half-windsor, four-in-hand, and a bow tie, and I have used them interchangeably depending on the shirt, collar, and tie. Leaving a tie tied in the knot after you've taken it off is a great way to reduce the life span of your tie. I don't recommend it. -- droxford
I wear shoes with laces, but I treat them like slip ons. That is to say I keep them tied all the time and slip my feet into and out of them. I do this with my running shoes, bball shoes, sneakers, dress shoes, and even my most expensive leather dress shoes. Hey, I'm all about efficiency!!! No matter the cost (in appearance or ruining my outfits)
Me too. Certain members of my family, for some reason, have not liked this habit. Usually, though, I don't think that hurts the shoes as much as normal wear and tear does. And it's a lot quicker.
I'm so efficient at work that I can get more than my share of work done, manage my underlings, review their work, and post on this BBS simultaneously. Efficiency and multitasking. Thy names are drapg.

does tying a boe tie count as a seperate type? I'd never wear one now, but back in the 80's it was kinda cool. I think I still know 3 ways to tie bow ties alone.
Im 20 and I dont know how a tie a tie, but I dont wear ties very often, only like 10 times or less in a year
Do you have the shoe salesmen tie the first knot at the store so you don't have to bother with it again?
yep. i have an incredibly expensive Stefano Ricci tie (among several other expensive ties)..... leaving them tied is utter blasphemy.
I can do a four-in-hand and a half-windsor. I haven't had to wear a tie for a long time now. But, back when I first started working, I had 3 ties. Two I did with a four-in-hand but the third was too long a tie. So, I learned the half-windsor because it took some length off the tie.
I love ties. I can tie them in multiple ways. I, too, am horrified by the idea of leaving them tied in your closet.
Hutz: Well if you never forget anything. Tell me this. What color tie am I wearing? [turns around] Apu: You are wearing a red and white striped club tie in a half-windsor knot. Hutz: Oh, I am, am I? Is that what you think? Well if that's what you think, I have something to tell you [ugh]. Something which may shock and discredit you [ugh]. And that thing is as follows [as he finally undoes the whole tie]. I'm not wearing a tie at all![jury gasps]
I know one way to tie it and it ends up with a small knot which I like. I do not like the new trand of huge knots
I wear ties all the time, and I do my own version of a half-Windsor. I think the full-Windsor looks better, but it takes too long, and all my ties are kind of already creased the way that I always tie them, so I don't deviate anymore.
