I don’t know, it would just be me speculating. I can tell you that there were reports that the Clippers front office was upset with his rotations. Most likely Doc just felt they could win how they were constructed and it didn’t happen.

Sometimes really good coaches have tough series and match ups as well. Jeff Bzdelik is a really good defensive assistant coach and he was brutal against the Warriors a few years ago.

 

To be fair, the casual fan doesn’t care about the coach.

It’s a team sport and the Cavs had LeBron, Kyrie, K-Love. LeBron put so much pressure on Ty Lue that he had to
take a vacation during the season to prevent a nervous breakdown. Lue reputation is that the players like him....not x’s and O’s.

But how much was KDs injury and dantonis lack of adjustments? He kept the same defense against a team that changed their game plan in game 6 after KD went down. That opened up the game for curry to go off. Warriors waited for pj on curry switches and those switches allowed curry to use his speed and dribbling on PJ Tucker. Who is more physical but not fast enough to defend curry.

main issue I have with Lue is that he had those Cavs teams not even trying on defense

17-18 season they were 29th defensively

16-17 they were 21st

Is the pool of coaches that small for the NBA? Any team that needs a coach always looks into a small list of known coaches that were fired or quit. Surprised that there are no new/young coaches as prospects.
