Comparing Daniels to Thornton is laughable. He will have to earn more minutes with his performance as the season goes on but he's definitely an above average offensive threat. He is going to absolutely feast on the corner threes via harden and Lawson. He's also capable of creating his own shot consistently.
I don't think he was comparing Troy Daniels to Throton. He was pointing out that in the past with the Rockets, shooting well won't necessarily get you minutes if you can't do much else on the court.
For normal competitive games barring injuries or fouls, I'm believing: Lawson(32)/Bev(16) Harden(34)/Thornton or KJ(12) Ariza(34)/Brewer(14) TJones(26)/DMo(22) Howard(30)/Capella(12)/DMo(6) All the rest of the players will only get minutes in garbage time or in case of injuries, imho.
And the winners are... Howard, TJ, Capella, Harrell, Dekker, and KJ. We need a unique way to say "lob city". Ally-oops will be so common and repetitive we'll be saying, "Blah-Law-Blah".
Honestly, I don't see Thornton getting a ton of burn until someone inevitably gets hurt. We're not playing a 10-man rotation, and right now MT is probably our 10th man Lawson/Bev Harden/(Thornton) Ariza/Brew D-Mo/Jones Dwight/Capela It seems likely that we'll see Brewer backing up the 2 & the two PGs playing together before we see much of Thornton. Then there's KJ, who we just invested in, and I guess Dekker. Great injury insurance though.
Can't complain considering we got him for so little. He makes us better defensively but I have concerns about how a Harden Lawson backcourt will look defensively.
Troy wasn't hitting his shots and didn't hit after leaving either (well, until his few games with Charlotte). He can become a marksman with that shooting stroke in the future.
Im glad we got rid of JSmith and Dorsey……our bad FT shooters. Dwight you just deal with cause he's Dwight. Man, this team is going to be so SICK!!!! Ahhhhh
This is exciting as Ty is awesome, but I will temper my excitement as long as McHale is the coach. Also, can someone please get Ty the Uber app. on his phone.
Not paying Brewer 8 million to play 14mpg. He should be getting 18 - 20. The more I think about it, I love the prospect of Lawson coming off the bench and becoming our Manu/Harden. He will still get starter minutes but he will be able to roast 2nd units. Plus, he and Brewer already have chemistry and our 2nd unit with he, Thornton, Brewer, Jones and Capela is downright scary in the open court. Hopefully the addition of Lawson allows Harden to rest a lot more. We can play him 38mpg and expect him go be amazing in the playoffs when he has to play 42+mpg. I see minutes panning put as so; Bev (16) / Lawson (32) Harden (34, ideally) / Thornton (6) / Bev (6) / Brewer (2) Ariza (32, ideally) / Brewer (16) Dmo (26) / Jones (22) Howard (30) / Capela (16) / Dmo (2)
This is exactly the right move. Both the first team and the bench just got a lot better, if Lawson can stay out of trouble. It's going to be fun seeing Lawson dish to Howard, Harden, Ariza and DMo. What a backcourt. And they lost no significant pieces. This team will contend. Couldn't have said that with confidence a week ago. Can't wait for the season.
The fact that Ty Lawson is a better player than Kevin Martin, and we have the luxury to put Lawson on our bench as our super-sub really puts things in perspective.
You use this excuse every time you are wrong. Hint of advice: It's ok to admit you were wrong and you don't have any reliable source.
