Also need to resign DMo or Jones next offseason. A lot of work for a GM, but we got Morey so it'll be good.
He hasn't been convicted of the 2nd DUI yet and: 1. He didn't blow. 2. He's rich and can afford a killer legal team. He MAY just beat the charge. Just sayin'.
good player....Lotta baggage. I can see him doing well in Houston as long as he keeps his nose clean. On paper this is a awesome pick up, but dude has to get out of his own way! He cleans up, this makes up for all the other lackluster moves this off-season times 10! And somebody get him a DAMB driver please!!!!
This. Chances are good that Jones will be our starting PF given the uncertainty of D-Mo's recovery from back surgery.
Dwight can only cover the paint. He is not going to help in the perimeter. Also, guards will be driving and kicking all day against this team. This trade has made Rockets a better offensive team but also weakened their perimeter defense.
I don't know what I'm most excited about. 1) We FINALLY got a legit PG. 2) Bev goes back where he belongs 3) Dorsey being gone God (Morey) is great!
Well, teams were going to do that with or without Lawson coming. At least now there is a better scorer on the team to make those opposing guards work on the other end.
Thank you to Ty Lawson and all his legal problems for absolutely killing his trade value and allowing this to happen. Those of you that haven't followed Lawson's NBA career closely will now see what an underrated player he is.
The loss in perimeter defense isn't as large as the increase in our offensive scoring. We needed another ball handler that could attack the rim to help us score in the 4th quarter. Lawson gives us that option for whatever defensive weaknesses it gives up. We don't need Lawson to be a solid man defender as long as he can make up for it on team defense. We managed to be a top defensive team last season with Dmo as our starting center for half the season. Our offense was the biggest issue with the team. If Dwight can stay healthy this season + with a stable lineup throughout the season we will be top 10 in offense and defense this upcoming season.
PG: Lawson (24), Beverley (22), Terry (2) SG: Harden (36), Lawson (8), Thornton (4) SF: Ariza (28), Brewer (16), Dekker (4) PF: Motiejunas (24), Jones (20), Harrell (4) C: Howard (32), Capela (8), Alan Williams or Chuck Hayes (8) Edit: I forgot KJ McDaniels. Doesn't look like we have a roster spot available for Williams or Hayes?! Edit2: I counted Lawson twice. So I guess it would be between Williams and Hayes for the last spot? We're stacked. I can see Morey going hard after Durant next season, and getting Lawson only improved our chances there. I wonder how good Dekker is. If he turns out to be really good, Morey could bundle Ariza or Brewer with one of our young PFs for another upgrade at PF. But I think Morey will try to keep flexibility to go after Durant...
As long as we're healthy, everything will work out. It'll take time to acclimate Ty, but my faith remains high. My question is, how do we fill out the roster? JET as the third PG/SG and Chuckwagon for depth padding?
