Rockets have nothing to lose, except a late first round pick. Lawson was the best available. Can't wait for the season.
If this trade also enables us to sign Bigger Alan Williams, it will probably go down as Morey's greatest trade.
So pre-DUI: Jones included. post-DUI: Jones not included. I don't think it is a coincidence the Josh Smith signed with the Clippers after Lawson got his DUI.
We finally landed a true PG. Last season, he had 10 straight 10+ assists in a game stretch. All this makes up for the Josh Smith loss, which isn't really a loss since PG was our worst nemesis. Starting PG right there!!!
No love for Rafer Alston? BTW good thing we opened up 3 roster spots. Appreciation to fan favorites Papa, Prigs, Joey and Nick!
Also Ty Lawson needs to start. Bev is a great defensive player but he does not bring the offense or have the skill set that Lawson does. Bev will start all of the games that Lawson has to miss with his suspension. As soon as Lawson gets back though I expect Bev will start off on the bench.
Great move! Ty Lawson took most of the sting out when I found out Josh Smith took the Clippers' offer!
I'm thinking the bench as well. We have our playmaker in the starting lineup with Harden. Now with Smith gone, we need someone to handle the ball when Harden sits. Lawson would fit that role perfectly.
I remember several of us (myself included) were complaining about how every proposed trade here was Pap and Jones for a point guard. Most of us said you couldn't get a point guard for Pap and Jones. Well, we were partially right. We didn't even have to give him up! I'm floored. Did CF.net take over Denver's FO? This trade doesn't get any better. We essentially give up a late first rounder to take a flier on a very, very good point guard. Wow.
Lol, taking that a little far. But I haven't been this giddy about Rockets news in a while. Awesome day!
Lawson is an alcoholic with multiple DUI offenses. His value had bottomed out and Denver has rookie Emmanuel Mudiay to run the point. They were ready to dump Ty for peanuts.
I think it makes it more probable since before their wasn't a roster space for him. Now the Rockets have opened up 3 more spots.
LOL What could LA have been offering if they preferred Houston's poo-poo platter? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">ESPN sources say that the Lakers were also a determined trade bidder for Ty Lawson, but Denver clearly preferred what the Rockets offered</p>— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/622949600832294912">July 20, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
