Ty is looking for a more involved role to re-image himself. I'm all for a once talented NBA player trying to get their basketball skills back, just not on this team. Best of luck to him, he is an exciting basketball player when his mental game is 100%.
When he's not hitting his shot, the guy is useless and gets disinterested. That bridge has burned down.
I do admit that I'm at least a little curious as to how he'd do in MDA's system. I do not believe we saw the real Ty Lawson last season. If they could sign him for virtually nothing, why not give it one more shot?
If we could get him for a minimum salary or around there, yah, I'd take this risk. I was completely shocked that he sucked THAT bad last year. We didn't really have any kind of system, let alone one he would benefit from. MDA at least brings an offensive system, which could really benefit from a PG like Lawson. So for the right price, I'd take the risk.
Well he could fit the Rockets' newfound belief that the problem with their defense was actually their offense. He'd be yet another all-offense, no-defense guy. But no, no thanks, do not want.
I'm in the same boat. I don't know what the hell happened last year but NOBODY played well except Harden. Surely last season was an aberration. The guy is just far too young to have that steep of a drop off in quality of play with no injuries to explain the drop off. At the vet minimum I would definitely consider it.
The thing is I'm not sure he'd want to come back. I'm sure a lot of teams would be willing to sign him to a really cheap contract. Why would he want to choose Houston over other teams considering he already tried to play here and failed miserably? He would probably want to start fresh somewhere else.
I thought about this. I'd take Ty back only because the offense we're running now is NOTHING like that foolishness we call Moreyball. MDA will be the PERFECT place for Ty to come in and play his game
