Maybe keep Silas for remainder... Maybe not. My concern is I don't want the team to waste 2nd half of this season and continue with possible bad habits. A new coach (or interim) isn't guaranteeing an immediate W/L uptick. So I don't think it'll impact the tanking odds.
I don't want it wasted either. Development is key and I really cant evaluate what the top Rockets brass thinks about ours, or lack of this season. Lets face it, what they think matters completely and what we at Clutch think doesn't matter a bit. That said, they haven't changed the coach or made trades to even out the roster. Maybe the lack of moves means they are content, maybe not. I do know expectations for next season are going to be much higher than for this one.
1st pick mean guarantees you nothing anyway...any of 60 drafted players can be good if given chance and proper coaching
i dont think management coaching , owner or players really care...they juts do what is easier to them..its just a work for them...we the fans care more then them...
Not even sure things get disrupted with Lucas taking over. The worry is this season could be a "lost year" for development even though they are on track for a good draft pick. Ideally, there would be signs of improvement even if games aren't won.
Do you hear anything from within the organization about Silas as a coach? I mean, we can see the "results" (one step forward, three steps back, s*** is just painful; we look like a YMCA pickup team), and it feels like Silas is more of a young father figure to Porter and Green ("and I got them with the honey mustard sauce you like, cool, right?") than the coach of an NBA team.
I don't think midseason coaching changes really amount to much winning in the past right? What ever coaching change we hypothetically do should be based purely on player development. Doesn't mean we start losing less. Just more set organized plays with the ball sticking less, more off ball movement, more accountability on defense etc. For a young team like this, it doesn't really mean that much more wins I think.
I’m not following why we’d trade Tate, he’s a ‘vet’ who plays hard and can be a solid role player next year.
Right. Just anything that points to a bright future. I can point to the improvement in Jabari Smith from the beginning of the season, but a lot of that was because Silas did not use him right. On the bright side none of the top picks are washouts and Smith and Green are at worst going to be long term starters in the NBA. Sengun has been good, but his outside shot hasn't materialized like I have been hoping. Porter is just more of the same..... and Eason needs to just get 25-30 minutes a night regardless of performance. The difference between Lucas and Silas is that Lucas isn't afraid to hurt their feelings.... but he is already in the building, not sure he changes much.
I have heard talk about Silas' job security twice since he has been with the Rockets. I don't think it was a coincidence that I heard questions about his job security after there were rumors about Stone feeling the heat. Last year there was some discussion around the all star break that the Rockets would not bring him back without some sort of internal improvement and development. Instead, they brought him back after the GM and HC blamed the assistant coaches for the lack of development.
Fire, trade.... and still lose like 40 more games. Great plan. All they have to do now is nothing. Maybe WAIVE Gordon but not trading him for more bad contracts. Retool the coaching staff after the season like a respectable franchise.
