As in they are both good at scoring the abll and nothing else? Well yeah in a way. But Ellis still gives you a bit more on the court. Ellis gets more rebouinds, assists and stelas also generally plays better D than Martin. Martin is the more efficient scorer while Ellis the better scorer. Ellis can score at will - anytime, anywhere on anyone. Ellis scores closer to the rim - pull up jumpers and finsih strong at the rim, can do mad fade aways too. While Martin scores further away from the rim - deadeye shooting from 3 point line and foul line.
first he says: "What I would really love to do is to pull off the deal to get a superstar" that clearly means he wants to get a superstar that he clearly doesn't have yet then "one of them out there" clearly means someone not in his GS team
I was talking about what I said....not the article... Dude, move on What I said had nothing to do with the article, it was speculation from the article.
I view Courtney Lee as a poor man's Monta Ellis. But C-Lee can play defense. We don't need Ellis. Although. I'm curious to see what a Lee-Ellis backcourt tandem can accomplish.
Ellis and Curry are not Superstars but they are not borderline all-stars. It's the losing team illusion that keeps any of them from becoming an all-star. Seriously in my opinion they both can become superstars if they were in better teams.
The thing about Martin is that he prefers to shot more than the lay-up. If Martin is not on a hot streak during the game, he will not produce. I remember there was a game where Martin was cold and he only scored like 10 points.
this thread is reading waaay too much into the "one or two" comment. everybody take a deep breath and calm down
I've got to disagree with this assessment. According to 82games.com 74% of Ellis' shots are jump shots and 26% are from inside (close, dunk or tip). He's also shooting 37.5% from 3pt range which is much better than what Durant is shooting. If you saw the Rocket games, he was raining down jump shots on us both games. As for Ellis scoring against bad defenses, let's see how he's done against the top 5 defenses in the league (in points allowed). 1. New Orleans - 1 game and went for 29-5-4 on 10-23 shooting. 2. Boston - no games 3. Chicago - 24-5-5 on 10-20 shooting 4. Milwaukee - 24-5-8 on 9-16 shooting 5. Miami - 20-3-7 on 8-18 and 25-3-7 on 7-16. So, he's played 5 games against the top 5 defenses in points allowed and his averages are 24.4pts, 4.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists on 47.3%. So his scoring is down about a point and a half while his rebounds and assists are up and his fg% remains virtually the same. I'm not seeing any falloff against the better defenses. Add to this that Ellis is #3 in the league in steals, #22 in the entire league in assists and of the 20 point or better scorers in the league only D-Wade and Eric Gordon shoot a better percentage. Ellis is an offensive machine that can shoot the jumper but can also get to the hoop and finish but he can also do other things too. He's certainly not a fundamentally sound defender but has anyone that's played in GS in the last few years ever been sound defensively?
