Two More Women Accuse Neil deGrasse Tyson of Sexual Misconduct

Discussion in 'BBS Hangout: Debate & Discussion' started by MojoMan, Nov 30, 2018.

?

Should Tyson's life and career be destroyed as a result of these allegations?

  1. Sure. Zero tolerance for EVERY man accused by women of sexual harrassment and assault.

  2. No. These acts should be handled as potential crimes and all people deserve due process. Everyone.

  3. No. Kavanaugh's accusers should have been believed, but Tyson is someone important who I like.

Since there's an accusation, there needs to be a full investigation. That's all anyone wanted with Kavanaugh, too.

Unless he can dispel any appearance of impropriety, I am firmly against making him a Supreme Court justice.

It wouldn't shock me if that was the case but I haven't looked into it at all so I don't really have an opinion about the validity of the allegations. These days it doesn't take much for situations to be blown out of proportion.

I am absolutely in favor of investigating this as though the accusations are true.

Dismissing it out of hand because you dont want to believe it and trying to kill an investigation because you like him is wrong

Believing her doesnt require disbelieving him if he denies it.

Its interesting you've broken it down to a binary option - believe her and totally destroy his life vs. not believe her.

Tyson is one of the top Afrophysicists in the world and deserves further evidence of these alleged indiscretions before his good name is raked through the mud.

We should have a sham investigation and vote to confirm NDT for a lifetime appointment.

I can remember when Bill Cosby had an unimpeachable wholesome image.

I am damn glad nobody started accusing the accusers because they were concerned about "ruining his life" since he was such a wholesome, upstanding paragon of moral virtue.

The Senate should absolutely not vote to confirm him.

Sad part is Mojoman doesn't care these women may have been raped. He just cares about Brett Kavanaugh getting the highest honor on his profession despite accusations of impropriety.

That’s it. I will not be supporting NDT for a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court until all the details come out.

    Was it that hard?

Speaking of which, I need to catch up on playing with science.

    > Story JUST came out today
    > NDT and Kavanaugh aren't of the same situation / in the same spotlight
    > OP is comparing a dude who's an expert in astrophysics vs a dude who was being vetted to literally hand out decisions that alter lives.

OP, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. As the investigation furthers, I'm sure NDT will be thrust into the spotlight.

He’s about 8 accusations away from becoming president.

It's almost like OP wrote this, with the headline and all.

    So the two accusations are:
    > A woman states she was "felt up" at an afterparty
    > A woman states she was part of an extremely intimate handshake, and was also persuaded into having sex.

That's pretty tame. Not saying those actions aren't bad or anything, but compared to everything else we've seen, that's tame.

Sadly obvious what is happening here:

if the scientist is bad, then science is bad

If the "liberal" scientist is bad, then "liberal science" (i.e. climate change) is wrong

What the hell is going on in this thread? Where is this logic coming from?

Because a science/TV figure is accused of sexual assault... that means a politician's sexual assault accusation should be automatically be dismissed? What in the f*ck.

You are the one comparing a celebrity accused of sexual misconduct to a SCOTUS nominee
