we should be doing what all the other teams who are beating the warriors are doing.

Steve Kerr is a once in a life time coach. To duplicate that hire you have to find a coached that played pg for 2 hall of fame coaches and played with MJ (2 different 3peats) and Duncan
Notice how Kerr gets everyone to buy into ball movement and keep everyone (super stars) on task for 5 years. Part of that championship pg smarts.
Notice when you have Mcfail no pg brain you get the just try harder offense. Hardens years of enabled ISO offense.
Pringle’s offense is good. Only lost by a difference of 6 points or less over 4 games. Problem is Harden wants to dribble the rock for 20 seconds and play that Drew league sh*t style providing rest for opposing defense to load up on help side because it’s so predictable. Less movement than Pringle’s Nash offense.
Shooting 3’s are good went you hit that 35-40% clip. But the mathematical facts that The fat dork never advertises is that out of 10 3’s at a 40% clip that meanS there are 6 rebound opportunities. If we don’t win the offensive rebound game from those 6 misses, then you get our results of loosing those quarters. Those games that we lost in the series are the games where GSW out rebounded us.
If the 2 players who get paid the most just made their damn fts. The Rockets would be playing a game 7 tomorrow.

d'antoni was probably a suspension away from winning the title with the suns. he was possibly a chris paul injury away from beating a 4 all-star juggernaut everyone thought was a gimme champion and just played one of the closer series in nba history against mostly that same warriors team even though chris paul was clearly a lot crappier than last year. last year's rockets are probably champions in 60-70% of nba seasons and runaway champs in probably a 1/3 of nba seasons. short keeping durant off the warriors or keeping chris paul's hamstring intact, i'm not sure what else d'antoni could do better last year. i guess i just don't see what other coaches are doing that is so brilliant against the warriors that makes d'antoni a problem.

besides, who are all the other coaching greats out there we can get? off the top of my head, kerr, pop, lue, carlisle, rivers and spoelstra are the active coaches with titles and we've seen what lue and spo have done without lebron (well i guess lue smartly quit after only a few games) and pop and kerr aren't coming here. carlisle has mostly done nothing for years now and if d'antoni has frustrated you in the playoffs then you want no part of rivers stint with LAC (especially given they weren't facing these warriors). brad stevens just had a tremendous flameout in the playoffs.

changing just to change when we're the only team scaring the warriors (maybe the bucks will actually challenge them as well) just doesn't seem like a great option.

harden was pretty easily the best player in this series. if he has to do better than 35/7/5 on 59 TS%, then you're probably always going to be disappointed in him.

Coaching makes a lot of difference look at GSW with Marc Jackson and GSW with Kerr or Bucks with Budenholzer and whoever their coach was before.

We need a coach who is hands on and implements a dynamic offense with lots of passing, ball movement and cuts to the basket.

We've been trying an iso heavy offense ever since Harden got here and. It. Doesnt. Work. This season is the last straw Rox can't even beat GSW with KD and Cousins out and Curry having a dislocated finger.

We need a change to the offense and a new approach to the game. Look at the Bucks man their best player can't shoot yet their offense is way more dynamic and lethal than ours.

Individual success is not team success sad to say.

Maybe if the offense doesn't require him to do 90% of the work all the time he would have enough energy to close the game out instead of bricking shots late game. Rox expect him to be both Shaq and Kobe no wonder he is failing to deliver.

    1.

Like it or not the slow iso thing is a Harden preference not a Dantoni or Morey one

We can try to push harden away from that but I doubt it will happen. And I think I new coach could clash over it. It is what it is, and we aren't trading harden.

We had 7 point lead into the 4th. The inability to score when your life depends on it says a lot about Pringle’s offense.

and the rockets with mchale and the rockets with d'antoni?

this would have been a better argument last year. both houston and gsw had very good offensive ratings in this series. if the rockets lost for a reason, it was defense (the real reason is gsw had curry/green/thompson and 4.75 games of kevin durant and the gamble we (very necessarily) took on chris paul has started the risk phase of the risk/reward calculation)

sure the bucks don't iso as much but they basically copied our 3's and layups idea. and they iso giannis a lot as it is.

Mda is not a championship coach. I still think game 6 should beat GS by 20 .

Unless I see some drastic actions from Fertitta, I dun believe him.

He said he believes in both Camp 1 and camp 2, whatever it takes.

    This.

Our system is not DAntoni system. It's Harden system. But you can say that DAntoni thrives with ball dominating PG as the lead guy. Think of his coaching history. He has three successful gigs.
    1. Suns with Steve Nash
    2. Linsanity with Lin
    3. Rockets with Harden

    His two failed gigs:
    1. Lakers with Kobe. Kobe is not a PG.
    2. Knicks with Melo. Nuff said.

So MDA and Harden is a good fit. Harden is not Nash. He is a scorer more than a facilitator. Nash is a smart floor general. Harden is a good passer but prone to mental lapses. With Harden, you will have a simple but effective offense. A Harden team will always put all the eggs in his basket. The problem is Harden's lapses. The mysterious blanking during crucial games/moments has proven to be killers. The loss to the Spurs showed that it's not just about the Warriors. If Harden could lock in night in and night out without those lapses, I would be a lot more hopeful that this team could go all the way.

I also think with JH there are limited styles you can play.

MDA is a stubborn coach who almost wins a ring at his best, but it is always almost, a true runners up.

I had the same feeling with Rick Adelman the Ruler but at least he stood up to his stars.

Jury is out on JVG as coaching is too stressful on his sanity. His disciple Thibs showed they are one dimensional.

    milk hair not debatable.

I feel bad for the anti Morey crowd. He just signed an extension and was sought after by one contender that we know of.

The overall data is not going to change except as far as tweaks. What will change I think is his overall strategy of building us to beat his view of the Warriors vs just building us to the best we can be.

Mike on the other hand is in trouble. I don't think it's because of his strategy as much as it is the question of whether he has the motivational tools to take a great team to a championship. Some coaches have what it takes to psychologically put their team in multiple higher gears. He hasn't demonstrated that anywhere. He's had more chances than most coaches to do that. At this point I wonder if he's not more like an overqualified assistant than a head coach of a champion.

I don't think we necessarily need a more skilled coach as much as we need one who is more skilled at motivating complex humans. What's worse is that at some point, players will tune you out and second guess you if you don't win. I don't know what the locker room is like but there must be at least a bit of that going on now.

There's an "it" factor here which is needed in the final lap of a championship. We might have the 3 best basketball professionals ever to not have "it" (Harden, Paul, MDA). It's worth reviewing all that. I'm not sure they can't win one with more help, but help might just be out of reach.

If we can't make a major upgrade this summer (I.e. Butler), give me Spoelstra or Ime Udoka with Morey backing them up. I feel like those are more dynamic guys who are not hell bent on proving something they thought of in the past is the only thing that can work now.

Translation of the descriptions of the 2 camps:

    1) This is stupid and you're all stupid.

    2) I'm so rational and logical, as is everyone who agrees with me.
