Good luck to Von. He was a bit of a hothead but he played with passion and he cared. He also worked hard to improve with the assistant coaches and it reaped rewards last year. Kobe was very impressed ... Wafer was a nice surprise for us amidst all the problems.
I think Von Wafer's frustation about playtime will disappear in Europe. He doesn't have to compete with Battier and Artest.
It's generally viewed that NBA players will play lesser offers in the NBA to stay. There's just a lot more unknowns playing for European clubs. I'm guessing Von didn't even get $2 mil per year here in this US if he's bolting for Europe.
I think he's going to dominate in the Euro leagues. Or at least put up decent numbers. I mean if Mike Harris can put of 30+ppg in the CBA, then Von Wafer should be having Kobe-like numbers in the Euro leagues.
i think he is faking! keep on fishing VW, cause you are getting close to catch the big one! Morey has got to match the offer at the end of the day!
Sina.com says Allen Iverson might come to the Rockets, who offered him a one year five million deal... Thunder, Pacers, and 76ers are in the same competition for AI.
This would mean the Rockets actually OFFERED a deal to Allen Iverson... And it being coming from Sina I hugely doubt its credibility... you sure its not just from a blog who got their info from reading a message board like clutchfans? It'd be funny if I or someone else here wrote "David Lee is coming to the Rockets for a 4 year deal." and Sina picked it up and it ran like mad after they ran with it on their blog or something.
He's already signed a deal today. Except its in the Greek league. 5.5 million Euros for 2 years. Today the Rockets took a big step back.
Money talks. I don't blame him for accepting the high-dollar deal, especially during a global economic crisis. Wish you the best, Von.
Those other teams let him go because there are plenty of athletic backup SGs that do not come with the attitude problem. When we were winning championships, the team had chemistry. It is the difference between a talented squad and an elite squad. Perhaps Von is a player that contributes negatively to team chemistry.
The rest of the league also saw Von improve just as much as we did this year (well, and they also saw him unfortunately get shut down by Sasha Vujacic). So if these rumors are true and he really goes overseas and no NBA team is willing to pay him anything more than the Rockets were offering, there may be a good reason. I wouldn't mind having him back, but if the Rox and pretty much every other team in the NBA seems to have some issue with him, then I have no problem moving on.
That's my only concern? Will he get as many minutes as he did during last season? I personally doubt. And how will he handle that situation?
It's not from somebody's blog, but I myself doubt about its credibility. I just brought it up to share the rumor with ya.
