Impressive. This kind of posting makes the YOFs look reasonable. Too bad they're taking the year off, they could probably teach you a thing or two.

That can't be right ... I learned here that Wafer gave up 10 points for every 10 he scored

I watch VSPan to see how he is playing these days and the same for Von, both to me are NBA rotational players.....

They just got better offers whether through money or a better fit and comfort level...good for them.

Exactly. That's why VSpan was replaced so easily and the same thing will happen to Wafer.

Wafer would still be a Rocket if he played some defense once in a while. Also, he got easily distracted by Sasha's tenacious D

I like how one game is the main thing the Wafer-haters have to hang their hat on. Yeah, let's not sign a guy -- who is young and still learning, and an important rotation player for the Rockets -- to a reasonable contract because he had one bad playoff game (out of 13) in his first year to get playing time. Two second-round picks and a 26 year-old who's never played a meaningful game (or many non-meaningful for that matter) in his life can replace what he contributed easily. It's summer, people suppose get dumb I guess.

Didn't he play with an injured hamstring?

Von Wafer has his faults and weaknesses, but he is, by far, a better prospect than Jermaine Taylor. I have high hopes for Chase Budinger, but only time will tell whether the summer league was a fluke. IMO Budinger has as much athleticism and a more rounded game than either Taylor or Wafer, but Chase's lateral movement will either improve or seriously curtail his playing time. This is only real weakness.

First of all, I'm not a Wafer hater. I like what he brought to the Rockets. He is a scorer but has major flaws in his game, which was mainly his court vision and defense.

And he had 2 bad games in the Lakers series (2-12 fg, 4 turnovers). He had 2 good games and was pretty much a non-factor in the other 3 games.

Also, I suspect that either Taylor or Budinger will fill his void fairly easily. Apparently, that's why Morey isn't too concerned. If people "suppose get dumb I guess", it seems like you're calling Morey dumb because resigning Wafer was never a major priority to him.

I watched Budinger's D closely in SL. Looked to me like his lateral quickness was ok, at least good enough to keep most opponents in front of him, as long as he was paying attention to it. He did get blown-by a few times when he looked away for the pick-- that shouldn't be a problem if his teammates are calling out picks. Even then, he chased the dribbler, and even blocked some shots from behind. Bottom line: I think his D will be good enough, certainly as good as Von's.

I'm not going to go game-by-game on his playoff performances to address your very disingenuous depiction of his playoff contribution. What more do you expect from a virtual rookie? If he was looking for big money, I could see how that would be a problem. If you think either of two second round picks are likely to be able to be a major contributor on a team that had a chance at the 2-seed in the West on the last day of the season, I don't know what else I can say.

It is amazing, so much fricken lunacy around here, no one is saying sign him for the MLE, just sign him for about 1 million or so....let him compete...

Yeah the NBA is littered with 2nd round picks that come in and score 10ppg in their first year.

He doesn't want that from the Rockets. He said he would rather play somewhere else if he has to settle for the minimum.

Why is this so difficult to understand?

Who said..the minimum...you do realize there is a HUGE amount of money between minimum and the MLE...

    Why not 1.1?

So much gray area, and so many arguments in black and white...

Do we have any money left really? I thought we used most of it on Mr. Andersen?

How much do we have left?

    Andersen was $2.3m
Taylor was under 1m - but I don't think he counts against the MLE....not sure.

Which still leaves over 2.4m left.....assuming you sign Chase for about 1m and he counts...you could still sign Von for 1.3m or so....which I think he probably takes.

If Chase and Taylor's deals do not count against the MLE...and someone more knowledgable like NikeStrad or Gater would have to answer that....then it leaves even more $$$.

Well yeah, but that is MORE than the minimum isn't it?
