To those laughing about Cook going to Utah, that is only because RealGM didn't make a fifth team option available.

If the fifth team option would have been there, Cook would go to Memphis and the other teams involved would Pass the Hat to pay for the disposal of the contract.

To those who think that Utah wants - deserves something in return for Boozer, what did Utah give - surrender in the way of picks and/or players when they got him?

I don't like this trade unless we're getting a first round pick also.
Tyrus Thomas>Carl Landry by a bit but
Shane Battier>>>>>>Kyrylo Fesenko.

I think we could get more than that for Battier and Landry. If Morey is a God then he'd get the 1st round pick from the Jazz that they're getting from the Knicks. I'd do that trade in a heart beat.

I'd do it if Chicago threw in John Salmons to us.

Houston Trades: Shane Battier, Brian Cook and Carl Landry
Houston Receives: Tyrus Thomas, John Salmons and Kyrylo Fesenko

Utah Trades: Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Kyrylo Fesenko
Utah Receives: Shane Battier, Carl Landry and Jerome James

Chicago Trades: Tyrus Thomas, John Salmons and Jerome James
Chicago Receives: Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Brian Cook

Houston Gets a great young PF to replace Landry, a young center to back up Andersen (and hes over 7ft) and a very good scorer and SG in Salmons. All 3 contracts are expiring

Utah gets a top defender in Battier, a young PF to back up Millsap and a big expiring contract in Jerome James.

Chicago gets a top PF in Boozer, a good shooter in Korver and a big expiring contract in Brian Cook.

The Rockets as is, still have question marks at the 2 and 5. Ariza is NOT a 2, and David Andersen is NOT a 30-35MPG C. This trade for the Rockets would be a cost cutting move gearing up for 2010 and sliding Ariza to his natural position, the 3. Even better if we get the Knicks 1st rd pick.

Utah dumps Boozer, gets an elite defender in Shane to pair up with Brewer, and get a backup to Millsap, in Landry.

Furthermore, Utah just signed Okur to a 2 year extension. So, Landry, Okur and Battier will all come off the books at the same time.

And the Bulls, well, they get Boozer

Utah gets the best deal. Battier would be an absolute perfect fit with Sloan. Let Kirilenko go to the bench where he belongs.

We get HOSED DOWN and RAPED. Tyrus is a bust. There is a reason Chicago drafted TWO power-forwards this year. He is athletic, but still lives off that athleticism. Not much basketball skill. I really hope this does not happen. I say keep Shane, he is a very very very good basketball player. He may not be young but I still think this team can be competitive after Yao returns for the 2010-2011 season, it isn't like Shane will be done by them. He is the type of guy every championship-calibur team should have.

For some reason, Tyrus Thomas has always seemed like Stromile Swift 2.0 to me - loads of athleticism but not much else. I would be insanely disappointed if we did this trade, unless there was something else in the works (Amare perhaps?). I just refuse to believe that we would give up all that defense and hustle for a 7' stiff and high jumper.

That's the Biggest Blah I've ever seen, that trade will not happen because the Rockets will not help the Jazz get better

Agreed, the trade makes sense from a need perspective but not from a talent perspective, and since we're not going anywhere this coming season talent>need. Houston needs to get more talent for this to work.

I don't like this trade. Fesenko is a scrub and Thomas, although talented and extremely athletic, has a very low bball iq. I think the Rockets could do better by staying pat and hear other offers if they wish to make a trade.

quick thoughts:

the principles involved in the trade don't appear to favor Houston as we give up more talent that we get.

However:

What picks are involved could sway that:

And

This would free up money to make a move for a max fa in 2010, while getting a free look at two young players with some upside.

Personally, I really like what Tyrus Thomas did last year and would welcome his youth and size to our team.

i dont like this rumor at all

the only way i would think to agree to such a trade is if the jazz send us the Knicks unprotected lotto pick as well.

so it would then be

chi: boozer
utah: jones, battier, landry
houston: fesenko, thomas and knicks unprotected lotto pick

but that trade as presented as nothing to do with the way Morey values players and how he conducts trades. it would be almost the complete opposite of the way morey has done moves in the past

The only way I see Morey doing this trade is if one of those teams were to give there Draft pick especially NY's unprotected b/c they are gonna suck this year.

Yep around 1yr 4.3 million and along with Shane's Contract along with Fesenko we could have roughly 12 million of free money to play with.
