I'm not in favor of this rumor, but there is no doubt that we lack not only size, but length, scoring, defense, and rebounding in the frontcourt after losing Yao Ming. I know you feel that Hayes and Dorsey can get it done with Andersen, but you will be in for a rude shock when the season starts.

Chuck is great on defense but he isn't tall enough nor can he score in the paint, management isn't sure of Dorsey with good reason. He will do better than last year, but he will be in foul trouble which will negate his rebounding, Andersen can't be relied on as an inside scorer, nor for defense or rebounding.
Luis and Landry will have to face a lot more defensive pressure, with Yao being out. It will become harder for them to score.

This trade proposal seems like it could be very true. All three teams would fill a need. I'm hoping its not true, but anyone who thinks this is ridiculous is crazy. We will just need to wait and see if there is any truth to this.

I think the fact that these guys come off in one year is a big deal, though Landry is still under-priced, anyhow. Dropping Shane's contract in one year (how long is it, anyhow?) is interesting, and it won't kill us to have these guys for a year.

This is somewhat more palatable to me and closer to working within the salary cap.

From Portland: Rudy + Rights to Freeland to Chicago
Cash to Houston

From Utah: Boozer + Backup Center to Chicago.

From Houston: Battier to Portland

From Houston: Brian Cook + Cash to Memphis

From Chicago: Brad Miller to Houston

Season to taste with picks and other players to make everybody happy as they are going to get. Utah takes back no salary, but might need to throw in some cash to help terminate Cook's contract. Prying Miller loose from Chicago might be too difficult.

Wow are the rockets really going to give up that much?
Yes Thomas is a talented big man but what the hell...
Shane Battier is the heart of this team.
WoW just WoW

How much can we save with Yao's player option? We aren't getting any picks either.

I think in this trade proposal Houston gets the lesser end of the deal. I am not opposed to moving Battier & Landry, but would want more than Ty Thomas in return (don't know anything about Fesenko). Ty Thomas hasn't reached his potential by a long shot but he has gotten better, particularly his midrange game. He would be great on the fast break and bring a nice front court player with shot blocking athleticism.

However, I still feel in this proposed deal the Rockets don't get enough back. I would like to see if Ronnie Brewer could be thrown in to balance it out. Or a 1st round pick. That would be another asset we could use or parlay in other trades.

Speaking about Ronnie Brewer, a few years ago in the draft that had Ronnie, I suggested we take him....and now we have a player much like him in Trevor Ariza.

This is a stupid false rumor,if Utah is willing to take salary and we are willing to take expiriing contracts for Battier and Landry why not just do the trade with the Jazz, and get Carlos Boozer expiring contract. Look at the trade Utah is getting our good players,. Daryl Morey should just trade for Boozer if this is the case.

I'd be more excited if Utah throws in NY's pick...

Fesenko played Yao very well last season.....probably his best game of the year in fact

So Utah gives up Boozer for nothing? Why would they do that? Why not just keep Boozer for this year and let him walk at the end of the season if they plan on nothing in return. This trade makes absolutely no sense at all.
