If it's a 3 team deal, with Boozer who makes like 14M, somebodys gotta get included to make the numbers work.

Shane Battier AND Landry for (underachieving no passion) Tyrus Thomas and Kylero Fasenko? Yeaaaaah, great trade  Landry alone isn't worth TT and Fasenko.

This rumor is BS purely for the rapage that would happen to us if we do this deal, unless we get the Knick's pick next year as part the deal as well.

You're right...the Lakers had 3: Kobe, Odom and Ariza

The Celtics had PP and Posey, and they had the defensive beast known as KG in the paint, PLUS they had Tom Thibs institute his defensive scheme.

Well why the hell are we chucking them in?
If chicago wants Boozer so bad why don't they throw in Brad Miller and send him to us?

The trade works without Landry. In fact, the numbers work better for Utah without Landry. It would obviously have been to acquire Landry the Talent, not Landry the Contract.

That's the thing. Does Landry's number come off the books after this year, or after next?

If after next season, then clearly a cost cutting move, as we get 2 expirings back

So you give up Landry just to "make the numbers work"? IMHO you have no right to be calling other people dense....you do know Cook roughly makes the same amount as Landry right?

And your whole premise is ridiculous. Why will we give up extremely productive players on cheap contracts just to clear out capspace? When team trade away their guys to clear space they get rid of non-performing or overpaid guys. Those teams that traded away talent did so out of financial considerations more than anything else (Memphis, Milwaukee etc).

The only other team that traded away a productive player to clear capspace as a bball move was Detroit, and they ended up switching Billups for Gordon and Villanueva. Wow, great move that was

Landry's contract only costs 3 million per year. How can it be a cost-cutting move when his contract is dirt-cheap already?

I don't like losing Battier and Landry to Utah.

    That's not good.

    Why else include Landry then?

Look I know Landry is great and has a great contract. But if his contract comes off the book 2010-11, then it's a cost cutting move.

Do the trade, get back 2 expirings, Barry's expiring, etc, TMac's expiring, get as far under the cap as possible to go after these big names

    Terrible trade.

Landry is a poor man's Tyrus Thomas, give him more minute and he dunks more often. Giving Battier for nothing makes it even worse.

Its not just Landry's deal but combined with Shane's and the expiring deals would have gotten back would give us roughly 12 million more that would come off our books next summer. Now you throw in J.James contract as the 2nd tweet reported thats another 6.6 million so possibly just under 19 million would come off the books along with TMACs 23 million...42 million off the books is very tempting.

And I said Cook's contract also costs as much as Landry's...and I believe it expires at around the same time. If I was DM and I wanted to clear capspace why the heck will I give up Landry when Cook is right there in my roster being completely useless?

Landry is included because this trade is completely made up, probably by a Utah fan. In this trade Utah gives up a guy they didn't want (Boozer) and somehow ends up with both Battier and a pf replacement in Landry? The only way I do this deal is if the Knick's pick is included, and even then I'd think real hard about it.

Landry is not worth that much. The Knicks are probably not going to have a good season, playoff bound season and that would give us two possible lotto picks(because we have a good shot at not making the playoffs either.

Tyrus Thomas is a young player who has really improved, and he's a good shot blocker, very mobile, and can shoot the mid range jumper.

If Landry is better than him, it's only slightly.

The only big thing in this trade is Shane Battier, he's worth more than what we are getting back. I'd think if Shane is going to Utah, we better get that pick back.

Ok thats great and all but...

    1) Cook's contract will expire anyway and Landry's will go for another season after this one.

    2) Why would Utah want Cook when they could get a nice PF backup to Millsap?

    Just a couple of thoughts....
