Yet Thomas will never live up to the hype he had during draft night. The guy has no work ethic and was a headcase around Coach Skiles.

If Morey and Adelman sit down with this kid and like what they hear then I'm fine with this.

I could not agree more... (remember he is a JVG player)

Shane is a great clubhouse guyand a good defender - but he kills this team on offense and losing his salary and getting some youth would be outstanding

...also - we know Carl has some quality hussle plays - but he also has missed games in each of the last seasons, has an injury concerns around his knee, and has shown no signs of getting any better (what you see is what you get)

If Thomas is a headcase, i'll give him this... we've been through a year with Artest. Just wish we could have someone like Battier in the clubhouse tho.

To be honest, doesn't this trade seem bass-ackward?

Shouldn't the wheel be spinning counter-clockwise rather than clockwise?

Landry can nix any trade before September Whateverth (19th?). Wouldn't he be more likely to accept a trade to the Midwest?

Shane Battier and Carl Landry to the Bulls
Tyrus Thomas and JJames to the Jazz
    Carlos Boozer to the Rockets

Okay, don't flame me, I'm not advocating all this, but IF there were any truth to the Rockets looking into a trade for Boozer at the last trade deadline (Artest's expiring + Scola; I'm glad it didn't happen), and IF the Jazz need to dump payroll and could buy out James, and IF Landry would be okay with Chicago over Utah....

Granted, we could use TThomas' shot-blocking athleticism and James' expiring contract. I'm just saying.

Go and check their draft measurements without shoes before saying Carl has shrunk. Thomas 6'7 1/4 and Landry 6'7 3/4. Landry is taller.

this would be an amazing deal for us. face it, as much as we love landry's heart and effort every night, tyrus thomas is better than him and has a much higher ceiling.

I'm not sure I love the trade but with Thomas and the 7 footer expiring next year there is not a ton to lose. If Jerome James could be bought out maybe we could try to bring in Odom? I'd say a core of Brooks Ariza Odom and Scola would not be too bad and would make us competitive this year and for years to come.

Wait...given James and Thomas make roughly the same money, are we saying the Rockets would rather have James than Thomas?

If so, given that Thomas is worth more than James, I'd have to believe the deal would have to be re-jiggered... with Rockets giving up less, or receiving someing more than Fesenko as the other part of the deal.

it sounds like they screwed up the 1st tweet, and it was thomas/fesenko/james all coming to houston......in any case, it would make more sense this way for the salaries to fit

Well in the deal as is (us not getting James) we would be giving 5 million more than we take back, so I'm sure James is getting pushed on the Rockets and Les is saying no unless we can get a buy out done.

Thomas is longer, taller and much much more athletic than Landry. Its not even a debate right here.

Thomas has a higher ceiling for sure and is an exceptional shotblocker. Thomas shoots .45 FG% and Landry shoots .574 FG%, both are descent rebounders.

Longer yes. But not trying to debate, just go look at there draft measurements before making comments about a debate. Landry is taller period.

Say what you want about Ty Thomas. But let's stop the Stro Swift comparisons. Thomas has a high motor, Swift did not. And that's a big factor why Thomas has more upside and is more effective on the floor.

I still would really like to see Ronnie Brewer or John Salmons added into this deal before I would be totally comfortable with it.

I love Battier, but I am prepared to move him. Battier+Landry for Thomas isn't a slam dunk. But maybe we can't get better than that. It does clear cap space and maybe that's the long term goal => Get a Young Asset in Thomas and clear cap space.
