Thomas has got all the physical tools and he's NOT an undersized PF like Landry, Hayes, Dorsey, etc either. Game 7 of the Lakers series should have made all of us realize how important it is to just have one big body in the paint to haul rebounds, and Carl Landry doesn't cut it due to physical limitations that cannot be overcome (aka height).

I agree with others, if the Rockets do this it is to clear cap space for 2010.

But unless Yao is opting out and resigning for considerably less we would have to clear house to sign anyone significant. Don't see that happening unless there is more to this rumor than meets the eye.

Again showing the hindsightedness of some Clutchfans members. Stop overvaluing our players so much.

Put me in the camp that unless there is a draft pick (or two) thrown in there (i.e. - Utah's NY pick, or Chicago's or something), then this seems a little steep for salary cap space...especially if you still won't have enough to be a real active player.

    This is an awesome trade!

When given extended minutes, Tyrus Thomas is Josh Smith. I think he'll be better than Josh Smith.

Fessenko plays super hard and is only 22. We add size to the front court that we desperately need. If Yao ever comes back, he will have capable back ups that can play for years to come.

It gives us so much flexibility. If we want to keep them, we'll have their bird rights. If we want to go for another player, we renounce.

The fact that these contracts are up in 2010 makes this a no brainer to me.

Plus, we seriously can not afford to put up with more 0 point nights from Shane.

Does anyone remember how poorly Shane played this season?

Source: "Talks are impending on hourly basis, though, one Personnel(L.Alexander) would rather have the opportunity to buyout Jerome James."

Although I can see what he is saying. Scola is a much, much cheaper version of West and doesn't affect our 2010 plans (if we have any). I would do that trade in a heartbeat though but it depends on what direction we are heading exactly.

Battier is constantly overvalued by this board, unless of course you are valuing him against Rudy Gay. Hard not to think highly of the players though after last year.

Landry is already 26, and does not have a skill set that says he will improve any more. He is a hustle player.

He does not have a single back to the basket move. He will always be a back up.

He is way overrated on this board.

The trade itself is fine if Thomas wasn't coming here..the Rockets want to run for 48 minutes lol...i just hate how the dude doesn't apply himself...he could be a great player and yet, doesn't want to be it seems....

You right, no doubt...And I understand if you think Thomas can improve...he does have more room to get better, by comparison.

Not trying to argue with you, but Landry is taller than Thomas. Although Thomas has a longer reach and both players can fly. Thomas 215lbs and Landry 248lbs. When it comes to rebounding I would take Landry over Thomas, but I do think Thomas has a much higher upside.
