So basically we give up a future all-star 2nd round sleeper for an underachieving top-5 pick that's never going to accomplish anything in his career. And we give up Battier.

Calling Landry a future all-star is a bit premature don't you think?

We give up more talent than we get, but we clear 2 contracts off the books for next summer’s free agency while getting 2 guys who will either a.) Prove to be good young players and earn new contracts, b.) Be assets at the trade deadline, or c.) Be let go in the off-season (Fesenko not Thomas.)

Thomas isn’t the type of player I expected us to go after because although he is a 1 year contract, his asking price will probably be higher next summer. So my take on us getting Tyrus is we are either pretty high on him and his potential OR we will move him again at the deadline.

Of course we could get better for Shane, but stop fooling yourself if you think we could get Rudy Fernandez. Pritchard doesn't even want to give up Jarred Bayless in any deal, why would he give up the more proven Rudy Fernandez?

This trade isn't about getting worthwhile back. It's about getting MORE cap space for 2010 to sign a big time FA to pair up with Yao + Ariza come the 2010 season.

Even better if we get first round picks. Especially NY's.

That's basically cap space and 2 lottery picks in a deep draft.

    Win win.

Next season is a wash anyway. No matter how good you think this team can be, it'll be nothing more then one and done come playoff time. And that's if we make it

If we get NY's 1st, then it is somewhat close to fair. If not, hosed.

Highway robbery, This will improve all the teams involve except the Rockets. I rather keep Shane and Carl. This trade will just leave a lot of holes in the team. The most important question is who would be the leader that make sure that team focuses. Shane does this and losing Him for another young player which does not really fill the spot that is most needed.

I can't believe Houston would do that trade. I don't care who the GM is. It would be hard to find one stupid enough to do that.

i pray this trade does not happen. Thomas will be the next Stromile Swift. I would rather have guys who give it their all on the court and have a little less talent than a guy who knows he has all the talent in the world but doesnt use it to his full potential (tyThomas)....

Who said future all-star? He is a basketball player. A better one than Tyrus Thomas.

it will set us back b/c shane is a veteran. but the trade will fill our holes: athletic big man who is only improving (though with a low IQ at times) in thomas and a legit C with size.

Morey never did any trade that was rumored. He is very very good at keeping his discussions private. Just recall the Alston trade lol, who saw that coming, not one freakin twitter dude got it before he shot it!

Precisely, I rather keep a veteran who would help guide the team and just try to obtain front court help elsewhere. This season is not a forgone conclusion yet.

Landry has a more polished basketball game. You can't debate who plays the game of basketball better, it is obviously Landry. Ty has still yet to prove that he is more than a tremendous athlete. The way things are going, Landry would probably last longer in this league. Ty has Stro Swift written all over him.

It's not about who's better, Ty Thomas or Landry.

Ty Thomas has an expiring contract. Carl does not

again, we've seen morey dangle shane out there and his trade value isn't that high, despite what people around the L say.

i'm against the trade too, but I would understand what morey is trying to do. we are DESPERATE to get a backup C. and this fesenko guy is still a project.

and tyrus thomas is MAD athletic, young, and has improved every year in points/rebounds. and his midrange J was money in the series v. boston at times. he can only get better.

if this trade does go down, we're basically rebuilding on the fly. we're going to be VERY athletic, but VERY young.

but again, most of these are RUMORS. 99% of rumors don't happen. relax and let time takes its course.

I do hope that this just remains a rumor. I believe that Morey can do better then said trade. The team does get younger and more athletic but at this point there should be a balance where a veteran is needed to stabilize the situation. Having a young team may be fun but they would be prone to too much turn over. If this trade happens it really signifies a rebuilding mode. I still believe in this upcoming season and having veteran leadership is a must for any team.
