notice how trouble ALWAYS follow him?

Kinda like the brawl at the Detroit Palace...the 6 guys who were arrested had criminal offenses in their record.

Was it McHale? WOW, didn't remember, I stand corrected. KAHNNNNNNNN still sucks then. Thanks for the catch.

By the way...McHale maybe the best color guy/studio host in the game with JVG and Hubie.

    Brooks + Battier + Budinger + 1st rounder for Mayo + Thabeet.

Then, I would ship Martin + Scola + Hill for G. Wallace + Augustin + Tyrus Thomas.

    Augustin/Lowry
    Mayo/Lee
    Wallace/T-Will
    Patterson/Thomas
    Hayes/Thabeet/Miller

...still have Yao's expiring + Jeffries at your disposal.

On this board I feel sometimes we are willing to trade for anyone. I could start a thread about how freaking Popeye Jones is in some teams dog house and everyone would come up with a trade proposal to get him.

What does Mayo bring to our team that we don't already have. He's a shorter version, less efficient scorer version of K-Mart.

I'm all for trades but get some value or something you need help in. If I'm not mistaken he's just as bad defensively as Martin or maybe a step up. Not worth giving out every player you have to bring in someone like this.

WTF happened to this guy? His rookie year he seemed so mature and professional for his age now he turned into a druggie? I blame the Grizz :p

Mayo's actually a pretty good defender. Rather than thinking of him as a downgrade from Martin, he's actually a rich man's Courtney Lee. Pretty decent SG, and could probably start on a championship team down the road if you ask me.

I think given the right amount of minutes Lee can contribute. Seems to be more athletic than Mayo but could be wrong. He was a great addition and piece of the Orlando team that went to the finals. Too bad for him he broke his nose and was out a bit of the playoffs.

I guess the basis of my point was that it's not much of an upgrade to give up assets to get this guy at the end of the day when it's a minor upgrade. Use the assets for a true player.

    OJ Mayo has unique skillset

    Scorer - passer - shooter - leader

Only Brandon Roy from last 6-7 drafts has the same package

Unleash him from this crappy team and let him be your franchise player. This would be something

How can you put Leader in his skill set after he had a blow out fight on the plane and just got hit with a substance abuse suspension. He is far from having leadership qualities.

I absolutely think Mayo has leadership qualities...

Memphis is screwing him in the A right now, and he has sort of blown up.

With a good franchise I think he is an all-star, and could be a cheap, young replacement for Martin when we inevitably go young.

Skill and leadership are two different things. If you want to tell me that he has flashes of being a great scorer etc. I will say okay and if he is given a chance 'could' thrive.

But as far as leadership goes, what has he clearly shown anyone that he can lead a team or even has that quality. All of his actions have gone opposite of that. Yes he might being getting screwed by Memphis but at the same time doesn't someone that is a leader or have those qualities handle things in the right way.

Did Memphis screw him and plant a fake pee test result causing his suspension? That's not leadership material. Those are his choices.

    Mayo could be had easily

Most people predicted Mayo would be an All-Star by now back when he was in high school. Back then Mayo had a work ethic and maturity level that was off the charts for someone of his age. Now in a league with the best basketball players in the world his skills and desire don't separate him from the pack anywhere near as much as they used to.

The Grizzlies have reportedly gauged the market for Mayo and found out that there isn't much out there. The Denver Nuggets voiced virtually no interest in Mayo, while the New York Knicks are unwilling to give up anything more than spare parts for him.

At this point Mayo's stock is at its lowest and based on the circumstances the Grizzlies may have no choice other than to try and weather the storm and hope that he turns things around when he gets back.

Mayo could be a real steal for someone if he ends up being moved. Of course, he would have to straighten out the off-court stuff first.

He would have to go somewhere that had strong veteran leadership and a coach that both demands respect and has the cachet to get respect from his players. In other words, just about anywhere but Memphis.

I would have no problem with the Rockets buying low on this guy. He's young and talented and the Rockets need to be in rebuilding mode by now.
