Seriously... Perhaps they're doing it through work and kids and school? I know I'm looking way too much into all this. I see alot of people saying OMG I'm on _ like ALL THE TIME. Or I'm just SOo "addicted" to ___ ... but is that always a good thing to say? It means if you're actually are so busy and active you're taking time AWAY from something to do all that. *err like me clutchfan-ing at work, but still...* My job like anywhere else is a study sample on all this. We use Skype for interoffice communication. I never used Twitter but I'm thinking there's a few similarities. FULL of status updates, quirky avatar and name changes, people sending out general questions and eeeeeveryone's gotta pile in their amusing commentary... Then I go to them in person for something, they're on the cell phone already into other stuff... I can see why I dont have friends cuz I dont get involved enough in anything. Its like I dont want to "appeal" to people through pop culture and inside jokes all the time to get a real issue across. So its what to pin it on, myself, the social sites, or the people. Screw it, I’ll just leave all that to my manager.
It's been around for a while, but like someone else said, it's gaining fame due to celebrity use. Even CNBC is using it now (as they mock it and say how silly it seems). I think it's just another form or mutation of what's already out there. First it was myspace, then facebook, now this... they'll keep coming.
All a bunch of follow this and follow that and follow me. Stupid. I don't want anyone 'following' me....infact friggin leave me alone.
pssst. Here's another hint. Unless you like the current social enclave to be closed, make it simpler to access folks.
I haven't had any trouble finding people... I go through networking... someone follows me or I follow, I check out their followers/following list to see if there is anyone I am interested in or know.
Don't know if it's been said, but it became a REALLY BIG DEAL a couple weeks back when half of congress was tweeting during the budget speech. That's when the MSM starting jabber about it 24/7.
thats funny. seems like it will become uncool soon enough. there will be something next. curious to what that will be.
Something I got from Hayesfan today: There's a hashtag that's used quite a bit for hilarity: #JVGisHipHop. Go to Twitter and search for that. It made my day.
i'm on twitter. its alright. i like getting news updates from cnn and espn, can be pretty helpful especially since they provide links directly to articles and such
I've had a twitter for a long time but never used it until recently. I like it a lot better than Facebook/MySpace. I was vehemently against it at first, but it grew on me, mainly because I can see what people like Shaq and Chamillionaire are up to.
