Wouldn't he know the minutes situation coming in? Wouldn't he ask about it and talk about it before making any decision to sign? It's not like he's gonna sign, get to Houston and all of a sudden go "Holy cow, what's this? I didn't know Yao and Miller are on the team!"

 

He'd be more likely to think, "the Rockets only have Yao and Miller on their roster. As the second best center in the NBA, I'll be starting."

 

Dampier is extremely underrated because of his contract, he'd be an asset to any team under 4 mill a year. There are very few guys his size that can get up and down the floor and protect the paint.
