Yep, and he is wrong as is anyone that believes that. He is shooting career highs in FG%, and in 3pters, and his defense has gotten SOOOOO much better since his rookie year. The problem is that people say something enough and start to believe it, even though all the advanced metrics, and stats, and even eyeballs if you are looking at it without a bias say otherwise. Chase has made himself into a very nice starting SF, is he elite...LOL...no.....but he is a nice complimentary piece, and he is frankly a lot better overall player than Terrence. Folks will continue to tout the Sheeple line and they will continue to ignore the facts. It is ok, I am here to set the record straight.....it is my job !!! DD
i agree. chase is better. ppl tends to use elite player standards to measure him. on twill, he doesn't know how to play team bball. if bball were changed to allow only one player on the court each, he would have been a great pick for us.
How is CBud improving? He bricks every shot and is now turning the ball over worse than normal. T-Will is not playing to his full potential. Why don't we just tank and get Harrison Barnes?
Lol. Proves my point that you're not here because you hate T-Will. You're here because you love C-Bud. Your last chance at redeeming your credibility.
Aren't you the guy that always criticizes people saying that they should watch the games instead of the stats? If you have been watching the games this season, terrance has done a much better job penetrating, defending, and being a high energy player. Those are player attributes that often yield players playing time (exarsons). Chase doesn't seem to be hitting his shots when we need them in momentum changing game moments, which is fine as all players go through slumps, but he isn't even getting a lot of those backdoor cut layups he got in the Adelman offense. Therefore, looking at the GAMES it is only fair to argue that T-Will start in his place. If we started Dally and T-Will instead of Hill and Chase, we would be a much better defense team, and potentially a better offensive team with T-Will's dribble penetration. If you have been watching the games, NOBODY on this team dribble penetrates, and it is pathetic to keep watching us throw the ball around the perimeter for 20 seconds and then jack up a 3, or give it to Dally/Hill in the post and get the ball stolen... Also, I recall reading a post you made last night about us being in a horrible position as a team because we are losing and playing our vets. Honestly, in many ways Chase is a vet, he isn't going to develop into much more than he is. He is not going to become a great dribble penetrator nor is he going to become a great defender. According to your own logic, why not start T-Will? He has potential, and is not really a huge liability on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. He makes dumb passes, and is often times hesitant on offense, but the only way that will ever change is if he sees time on the floor and gets more comfortable playing with his teammates in a real game, not practice.
The difference is that when we all watch the games we are not all equal in understanding what we are seeing, as evidenced by this very thread. DD
The difference is that half the board leans one way, the other half leans the other way and you sit in the middle and do your best to come up with something insightful only to fail and piss everyone off in the process. Its not because you are a genius, its because you are a pompous idiot.
Oh. You think this is just about Bud-Twill? How about Lowry-Brooks? How about Vassilis? How about Von Wafer? Lmao. Wasn't I on your ignore list? Disappointing DD, I thought you were taking the high road.
You should be on my ignore list, but I thought you were being semi reasonable. I won't bother with the rest of those things you brought up because like most, people don't talk about the proper context of those discussions. But in regards to this one, CBud is a much better basketball player than Terrence, he is not a great one, just the best SF on the roster. Terrence is not a good NBA player, he has not proven it and it is his 3rd year.... Use the same argument for Thabeet, if people think he is a bust (and he probably is) then the same can be said for Terrence. The worst thing about Terrence, is that if we somehow make the playoffs, it will cost us a valuable first round draft pick, and that would suck. As for the high road, I am taking it. I am the only one bringing up facts in this thread, everyone else is just using tired unprovable perception. It doesn't fly, sorry. DD
So what exactly is it that you are seeing out of Chase's production in 7 games that impresses you or makes you believe that there should be no question in taking away his starting role? Why don't you actually cite some in game examples instead of just making condescending statements? Isn't the point of this board to have well-thought out discussions on the houston rockets? Not to just defend certain players due to an inability to admit ones own mistakes?
I am not making any condescending statements at all, I get called a pompous ass so I played along. I even broke down a comparison between Terrence and Chase in the Orlando game that showed that perception was wrong. I have shown stats that show CBud is playing better, there is nothing you guys would listen to that would make you flip your stance. I think this discussion is silly, Terrence is getting his chance, if he is better he will take that spot. Chase is not a great player, just a very steady smart, good basketball player. DD
Thabeet has no basketball skill. Terrence has basketball skill. The only thing Terrence has to do is find his spot on the team. Right now he's trying to flash to beat out Bud for a starting spot, or at least secure more minutes. I really think (after we let him continue to work for a spot) job security might help him lessen his boneheaded plays and maximize his efficiency. Chase is a solid role player that can hit open shots. That's all he is man. We wouldn't be having this discussion if we didn't need another playmaker in the starting lineup, or at least coming off the bench as a sixth man. With Martin not being able to create shots (draw fouls) anymore, Lowry is forced to try to playmake more in an entirely new offensive set that seems to focus on the post players. I'm definitely seeing less open shots this year for all players on the court, which will definitely hinder Chase's performance.
Why is it okay for Bud to get killed on defense, but we won't allow Williams to play because he doesn't take 3's. We would benefit a lot more having someone who attacks the rim and plays defense, this is the exact opposite of Kevin Martin, and almost of Bud. However, if this were to happen I would want to see Williams to take it stronger and work on his fts. He tends to take a very difficult shot instead of going for the dunk/lay up. It's nothing against Bud, I like him as a player. We just need something different in the starting line up. I would also recommend Dalembert to start...only because he is an upgrade from Hill. Hill has looked lost and plain crappy. I think he would benefit more off the bench coming in and just running with Dragic, finishing fast breaks. The slower first team does not benefit him.
I have noticed in the past couple of games that he is starting to pick his spots better. Now it is time for him to maximize his potential. Maybe starting is what it will take for him to do that. Plus, he is very good at assists. Maybe this is what scorers like K-Mart and Scola need.
You would seem to be implying here that T-Will starting makes us a better team-- more likely to make the playoffs. That's not what you mean to say, is it?
