I will always try to finish a show Sci-Fi/Fantasy I start. The sci-fi/fantasy genre is great because, if done correctly, anything can happen, make sense, and change the show for the better. Ie: Dollhouse, SGU, Fringe. Plus there aren't many sci-fi shows on television anymore. Your sarcasm is palpable. Where I'm at (lipstick Gun/Blond wig/2 hour code, virus, address upload) The Event is not good. I personally didn't mind the Flashbacks they took out after the Hiatus. They have replaced flashbacks with redundant exposition.
I find the computer guy turning into fricking CHUCK a little irratating. Now he is a kung fu-ing people in Europe? Too many 'happy coincidences' to make the character successful just starts to feel too improbable. The political intrigue is more interesting. Overall . . this is a C+ to B- show I had higher hopes Rocket River
Checking the most recent episode. Not all the way through it yet but I bet the Pres's wife will save him. Rocket River
Finally finished the most recent episode. I will probably follow it to the end of the season but I am really not feeling this show that much. It suffers from the same thing as Stargate Universe far too many coincidences and helpful answers to solutions. I also find myself not liking too many of the characters. Hell . . I think of all the characters I liked Thomas the most At least I understood his motivation Rocket River
Damn good episode tonight, my gf got be watching this show again. I saw the first couple of episodes and missed like 6 of them. But started watching when it came back on tv.
It's awesome. Last night's episode was great, wish I hadn't seen the "preview" for next week as it gave away things that piss me off. The characters in this show have been top notch in my mind. Blake and Jarvis are easily the best human characters imo. The way Jarvis reacted last night when he realized what happened was classic. Spoiler 1 about last night: Spoiler Damn Sophia is twisted now! Giving the flu to Lela? I find the character development of both her and Martinez to be very well done. They've both become polar opposites of what they were when the show started. Both began as idealists hoping for peace and love, and now both are hell bent on destroying the other. Truth be told, they both deserve to die. Spoiler 2 about the preview Spoiler Ugh. I can't stand Lela's character and I was really hoping Walker would stick with Vicki. She's much more interesting and he's been much more interesting with her. His scenes with Lela have sucked since the beginning and I think one of the strong points of the show has been the lack of Lela and Shawn's love fest. Don't want to go back there, but it appears from the previews that he picks Lela. Ridiculous. Vicki is ten times better looking and has made him ten times the man lol!
I quit watching because I refused to get into another show this deep just for it to be canceled. But I really like the first 8 episodes. Perhaps I'll watch it if it has a good ending when it hits Netflix. I think the only real reason I started watching this show initially is because I wanted another LOST so bad. But Fringe has really filled that void this season. Sorry for the derail.
I'm enjoying it. I hope it isn't cancelled. It reminds me of "24" with a sci-fi element and without the clock. At one point early on after the first few episodes, I felt like it was dragging so I quit watching. But, it's really picked up and I look forward to each episode like I used to look forward to the next episode of "24". I don't find it as predictable as "24" but I'm sure the ending will be favorable to the humans...if I had to guess. But, what is really going to suck is if they get all this way in the storyline and it is cancelled with no conclusion. Are ratings really bad on this show? The show is not bad at all imo. It turned out a lot better than I thought it would when it started out.
Rating started off very strong but then dropped quite a bit after the long hiatus. I've enjoyed it more and more as the season moves along, like Flash Forward last year, and it'll probably end up in the cancellation bin....
Spoiler I have to agree with you on the preview. I don't think Vicki is that great of a character but she's way better than Lela, who is about as dull a character as they come. This show got much, much better when she was (breifly) pulled from the main storyline.
What I've heard is that this season will not end in a way that will leave you pissed off and confused just in case the show is cancelled. It will be allegedly be an ending that will wrap up the story thus far but also set up a potential second season. I'm with you though. I wanted to quit early on because a few episodes went by where it didn't feel like they were accomplishing anything plot wise. All that seemed to matter were the last 30 seconds of an episode. That has completely changed now. I'm going to be disappointed if the show doesn't get picked up.
I'm happy that it looks like Leila is going to be relevant again. She's been pretty useless for awhile now. Since she's a hybrid, I guess they found a purpose for her now.
I hope it ends better than "V", where the final episode was rushed, contrived, felt out of place and was very unsatisfying. I don't think The Event has any chance of being renewed because the ratings have been rock bottom for a while.
Sad day. It was getting better I thought. http://www.spoilertv.com/2011/05/variety-event-cancelled.html Via Stuart Levine's twitter; @Variety_StuartL Stuart Levine Mort. Not coming back. Canceled. RT @TheEventFanatic: @Variety_StuartL On #TheEvent, can you give us a little more than the word "Dead"?
I'm not surprised ... although it's a shame because the last episode seemed to actually start to revive the show. What's a travesty is that Chuck is being renewed and this show isn't. Chuck was fun for the first couple of years, but now it's just really cheesy without being funny. Chuck needs to die.
Somebody put NBC out of its misery. They have something like 12 new shows coming and they all seem to be along the lines of comedies or romantic comedies. They don't have a freaking clue what they are doing. I expect one or two of those to make it past one season. But, it seems like they are targeting the female audience so who knows? Sci fi just doesn't work any more on TV I guess. One season and flop is the name of the game. Sigh.
