I guess they just wanted to take the plane away from what it was about to do. She did say they were protecting them or something along those lines. It didn't seem it was to protect the president as I felt it was maybe to protect that lady with him who is obviously in on everything. Not sure, though. The storyline also reminded me a little of "The X-Files" movie with the whole alien buried ship storyline. It's like an alien intelligence is pulling the strings and maybe they will eventually try to take over the planet. But, they will let a few humans live who cooperate.
Very much what I got off the first episodes and if that's it I'll be kind of let down. Maybe I totally wrong but it was just the first thing that popped into my head.
Finally watched it last night. Man, I hope the story itself gets and stays interesting, because I couldn't stand ANY of the actors (save maybe the guy playing the president). The actor that played the guy trying to drive down and chase the airplane was TERRIBLE. I mean like soap opera TERRIBLE. And the redhead who plays these people's leader (who/whatever they are) is also quite annoying. I remember her from back in the day on ER. The actress is seemingly incapable of having a facial expression that looks like something other than her being in pain, or being a sarcastic b****. It is annoying. And everyone else is boring. My initial thought was they are aliens. I suppose it could be some weird military experiment gone wrong that has given a bunch of people super powers. Either way they better start making the characters interesting or I won't stick with it much longer.
I thought it was ok and will continue to watch. I guess I like these type of shows and will have to go back and watch Lost. I was hooked on Flash Forward and pissed when they canceled it.
Well, this is yet another in that new breed of series, which really, I think, started with 24, where it comes out as a wholly-realized concept from day one, and continues through a pre-defined path all the way to the end. @4, Lost, Fringe, Heroes, and on and on.. in that sense, these shows are more like 'mini-series' than an actual television series. Which is fine. And in looking at it like that - I really enjoy Fringe, so I watched it with that kind of a critical eye - it was actually a very enjoyable pilot episode. It gave you a lot of the short-hand on the visual cues which seem minor at first glance but which become important as time goes on (example: several fleeting shots of the bald Air Marshall in the opening scenes - once he 'randomly' showed up in passing in more than just a couple of shots, it was obvious that he would be coming into play in some manner). I love shows like that, since they become almost like puzzles, and half the fun then becomes trying to 'catch' everything as it comes along, but never being able to catch them all, so there is still always some kind of pretty cool surprise coming up. Anyway, the show definitely succeeded in asking lots of intriguing questions right off the bat: Why was the 'woman in charge' in chains? What does the dad know beforehand, who is he really, and by extension, who is his daughter really? (or perhaps WHAT are they?) Who are the 'them' being referred to? One assumes it was some government agency, but not so fast - most likely the 'them' in question is some kind of paranormal group, and the impression is that there are probably at least two if not more competing/warring paranormal groups involved. Who was the man 'captured' 13 months ago? Who were the people who supposedly killed the 'mom', and why did they do this? And what happens to the little girl? Etc etc etc... Fun stuff, and hopefully it will stay around long enough to get some legs.
i pretty much agree with all of you but the reality is.. if you compare any show to lost (ecspecially the first few seasons) it's going their going to lose every time.. thats like saying well jacoby has promise but he's no jerry rice.... i personally thought the pilot was extremely entertaining.. but kinda sighed when i saw the worm hole.. i hope things don't get to extreme.. but i did enjoy it, and will watch next week.
Yesterday's episode was much better compared to the first. It got me locked in for a few more episodes for now.
It is interesting . . . but I am in a wait and see mode. I like Fridge. I am skeptical of shows that use the time jump too much. Esp back and forth . . in the pilot. I know they trying to build the plot and get your excited . . . . . but it makes you think it will be better to wait for the season is over then watch Fast Forward DIED because of this. They took too long to start answering some questions . . . by that time no one cared. Rocket River
i will continue watching for now but i am not a huge fan of the constant jumping back and forth in time at different intervals...first it was 4 days ago and then it was 5 weeks then 13 months etc. they flashbacks are fine but seem way too frequent will be interesting to see though where the show goes i agree on the red head though i feel like she is a terrible actress and cant stand her in the show
Ya but unlike LOST, at least they tell you the time period. LOST had it where they would jump randomly to a specified character's past or future with no idea what time period they were in.
Seems interesting enough, though I haven't followed a serious show since season 1 of Heroes. As long as there is more of that Vikki girl (Taylor Cole).
i am actually hooked on this show. I like the govt conspiracy theory angles. Maybe I just miss Prison Break. Spoiler
Anybody realize yet that the government is now going to have to.. Spoiler kill all those people, ..since they already covered it up by saying.... Spoiler .. the plane crashed in the Amazon somewhere? heheheheh...
Damn, forgot about this show. Going to have to DL an HD copy of it. Wanted to give it a try. I like Flash Forward.
