No I was talking about the end, when he started spouting Latin and putting the medallion on her forehead..

I know the devil grabbed him (or his likeness) earlier, but I was more talking about the ending right before he just walked back out into the streets without a word.

Yeah that part was a WTF moment. Didn't he state he wasn't the religious type, and only had that medallion/pendant b/c of his sick gf? Then all he sudden he goes all exorcist on Missy Ives, and walks off all cool and collected.

Well fool, why didn't you just do that to begin with before you start getting all high and mighty on Sir Malcolm?

Well.. if Chandler is not a werewolf.. which he may still be.. but his characterization seems to be someone who almost violently abhors violence.. I am now not so sure that he is the monster who killed the people in the opening scene of the series.. he has zero fear of the 'consumption'.. zero fear of any of the totally terrifying stuff which has been flung their way so far.. and in the scene with Vanessa where it was really the devil, I don't think Chandler was 'possessed', because he was downstairs, I think it was just the devil manifesting *as* Chandler.. so I don't think he himself was possessed by the devil at any point..

    Hmmmm..

And his 'Father' wanting him to 'come home'.. possibly Chandler is a fallen angel, maybe? On some kind of personal crusade against the forces of darkness, but not wanting to return 'home' either.. maybe wracked by guilt for some unknown reason..

Ah well, just idle thoughts. I am enjoying it at least, especially as we are all now in GoT withdrawal..

I've enjoyed it a lot more than some even if I don't know where it's going most of the time. Eva Green has been damn impressive throughout, at least in my opinion....

I welcome the lost feeling I get after each episode, but I also want them to give me a little something now and again to know where the story is going.

Eva green has been creepily good, which she always has been in her roles.

    Nero, very interesting thoughts there.

Yeah I agree, hopefully they will be a little more forthcoming in the final two episodes..

The thing about Chandler which perplexes me.. since Tuberculosis is extremely contagious, I think it is telling that both Chandler and Dorian Gray are completely unafraid of it. We know why Gray is unafraid, as he is essentially immortal, but then that leaves the question of Chandler..

It seems he is well aware that he has nothing to fear from the disease, but the obvious question is, why?

If he is a werewolf, then that probably also makes him immune to such things, although I don't know that there is any real logical reason that would be true - just being a werewolf wouldn't necessarily grant immunity to disease.. however, the idea of that being who/what he is is supported by his reaction to seeing the scene of carnage, his odd waking up under a pier, and his unexplained ability to seem to be able to communicate with the wolves at the zoo.

But now I am wondering if he is some other kind of supernatural being of some sort.. he is foreign to the land he is in, ostensibly American.. he tells Piper he has a long long list of bad deeds behind him.. he is unnaturally skilled physically, with the pistols for example.. he seems almost naively omnisexual.. his complete lack of fear in the face of things which should frankly be terrifying.. being on the run from his father and some situation in his past.. and of course this latest revelation, when he suddenly pulls out the medallion and essentially drives the devil right out of Vanessa..

So.. my guess is, he is just as immortal as Dorian Gray (and Caliban as well apparently).. but what/who is he? I think the closest fit with the themes of the show so far would be for him to be some sort of a fallen angel, no longer belonging to Heaven, but still an enemy of the minions of hell..

Or perhaps some sort of immortal Holy Knight, maybe a Templar.. someone with ties as far back as ancient Egypt.. an enemy of the Egyptian gods they keep referring to..

All I really know is, he better be more than just a regular man.. they better have SOMETHING in mind for his character, and they better get with it and start giving out some decent clues.. hehehe

this show is like a supernatural seinfeld. a full season about nothing. it's all been exposition really.

i wonder if chandler and brona are both shapeshifters? chandler a priest turned shaman turned wendigo/werewolf. brona a selkie. then again with the consumption and irish roots maybe that's some ironic twist with her being a banshee?

    Good Points
I agree. The Finale needs a GOOD PAYOFF

cause if it isn't coming back until next year . .. . a forgettable ending means most people may not return

He's gotta be something. From an actor's POV, why would he accept a role on a show where he was just a normal person? One that can keep wolves at bay, drive The Devil from people, and is bi-sexual. I only mention that last part, because that confused me. Was it more just about Dorian's character or did it tell us anything about Ethan?

And I'm with Rocket River, if there is not some level of pay off next week, I think they will lose most of their audience. I think they know that.

I really did think they might kill Vanessa off. Kind of a Ned Stark type deal.

I think Brona will die . . . and be put into Frankenstein's hands
Then that will have the issue of . . is she for Caliban or Chandler

Ms Ives and Sir Malcolm - their story is getting stale.

I think the same. The Ives Malcolm story has been stale haha. They could have given us more in this last episode, rather than justkeep showing Ms Ives as the remake of The Exorcist. Yes, we get it, she's possessed. It doesn't take an entire episode to get that point across.

So we learned about Ethan Chandler, and many of you were spot on. I am wondering where the story will go now since Sir Malcolm has now found and apparently killed his daughter. What will become of Dorian who seems to be quite smitten with Miss Ives. Again, many people called it, that Dr. Frankenstein would use Ethan's dying gf as the "bride of Frankenstein." Seems like the vampire/devil/whatever monster is not all that hard to kill.

Since the episode a few days old I won't spoiler. Anyway, the vampire they found was just an underling not "The Master" which is still out there looking for Miss Ives.

Dorian seemed perplexed he had actual feelings when he was rejected by Miss Ives. They answered a handful of questions and left plenty of open threads to explore next season, all in all I thought it was a pretty solid start.

    ultra bump!

no one watching this anymore? Season 3 has been really fun. Really feeling the western relocation by a few of the characters.

The worst thing about this show is the makeup when Ethan turns into a werewolf.
