I started watching Gangs of London over the weekend. Pretty gritty show that really amps up the violence. A good story and well acted but I think it's following a trend with recent shows of getting too violent. A lot of shows recently seem to go for shock value and violence that starts distracting from other aspects.
2 weeks ago I stared a rewatch of The Wire. What a great show. Season 4 not enough McNulty but other than that good stuff.
The violence tapers off the longer it goes, there is still some pretty rough stuff, but it's not so front and center. Overall the theme really changes with the show, and it starts getting more like Mr Robot, I am interested to see where the new series go just waiting to binge it. If you like stuff like this, check out Top Boy on Netflix, great show.
It’s currently on Prime for free but about to go away in a week or so. I like it and need to catch up!
I’m juggling a few shows right now: Peripheral Gangs of London Hunter X Hunter Spy X Family I’m getting close to finishing Hunter X Hunter…. Probably one of the better animes I’ve seen, even though the pacing can be clunky and can suffer from the “DBZ” drag things out with exposition.
The most ridiculous example of your complaint with HxH is when there's like 8 episodes in the Chimera Ant arc that take place over 3 minutes.
Been watching Echo 3 on Apple TV. It's a pretty decent action thriller so far. Made by the Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty people. Similar feel to Sicario, too. Nothing special so far, but watchable.
Might be hard to watch now... just checked and it's free for 10 more hours. I thought it was going to be there longer.
