I just can't see it being cancelled yet, reports I have heard is NBC want to keep this one going and use it to push for more emmy nominations which there is no doubt will come. The last aired episode was the best by far and you forget just how good John Goodman is. I must say, I just love everything Matthew Perry does on the small screen. Also the NBC believe that the 8 million who tune in to see the show are more of a "quality" audience and they allegedly come from a very sought-after demographic that's highly educated, with high income and high influence. Supposebly this makes it easier to sell advertising during the hour timeslot.
Since Friday Night Lights did better in the time slot, I'm surprised they're not just going to leave it in the Monday slot, especially since Friday Night Lights has not been doing as well in its own time slot. As long as Studio 60 stops losing audience from week to week (and they seem to have stabilized), I could see NBC keeping it around a longer to wait and see. The show was even up slightly in the key 18-49 demographic this week, so that might help with the reprieve.
DaDa - I really like Studio 60 - it's witty and fun! One of the few shows that I watch. I've started watching Heroes the past two weeks, and I'm a big fan of Lost. I watch The Office (hilarious), Earl, and The Family Guy (funniest show on TV to me). I've never tried 24 - not even one minute of it (and have a feeling that I might be missing something) Now that I think about it - I watch a hell of a lot of tv. No wonder I'm getting fat...
NBC also has The Black Donnellys up its sleeve as a mid season replacement... originally they would use ER's time slot, but ER seems to be doing well, I wouldnt be surprised if they axed S60 for Donnellys keep an eye out for this one, its made by Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco http://www.nbc.com/NBC_First_Look/shows/donnellys/video/#main
Late Night Update Time http://community.tvguide.com/forum.jspa?forumID=700000049 TV Guide's Ausiello is reporting that Studio 60 has received a full-season. Despite the sneaky efforts of conservative Fox News to instigate the cancellation ultra-liberal Aaron Sorkin's show, the show is profitable and going to last the season. NBC's response to the Fox News column can be seen here... http://publications.mediapost.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Articles.showArticleHomePage&art_aid=50417 A good day for the Senate and quality television.
just watched the first 7 eps over the last week, I really like the show, some great characters.......... Bradley Whitford mostly but the cast of studio 60 are great..... Harriot is hot too........the conversations between then are very west wingish, which is great and love to see that latest Christian skit, looks funny as hell with Jesus as the head of standards board.....
I watched the pilot episode for The Black Donnellys, and while it's going to be worth watching, the show has a serious problem with it... It is horribly miscast and while the actors portraying the Donnelly brothers definitely can do Irish, as a whole they can't act.
I guess NBC decided it's worth trying to find that larger audience... NBC orders full season of ailing "Studio 60" LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - After days of speculation, NBC has ordered a full season's worth of episodes for "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," the critically praised drama whose poor ratings placed it on the brink of cancellation. Sources said NBC will pay the show's producer, Warner Bros. Television, a lower license fee for the nine additional episodes than they negotiated for the initial 13 episodes, which was said to be in the range of $2.5 million-$3 million per episode. NBC and Warner Bros. TV declined comment. "Studio 60," from "West Wing" mastermind Aaron Sorkin, is set behind the scenes of a late-night sketch comedy show. It stars Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford and Amanda Peet. Airing behind the breakout new hit of the season, "Heroes," "Studio 60" got off to a promising start, but the ratings quickly fell. This week, the series averaged 7.7 million viewers overall and finished third in the hour. "I've never wavered in my belief in the show," NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly said. "With the talent we have in front and behind the camera and with the direction Aaron is taking the relationships, I think the show's passionate core audience will be excited, and the other viewers who sampled it can be won over." "Studio 60" was taken off its 10 p.m. Monday slot last week when the network tried out another critically praised but low-rated new drama, "Friday Night Lights." Reilly wouldn't say whether "Studio 60" will remain in its Monday berth. He said the network is looking at several possible scheduling moves, with a new midseason schedule set to be announced next week. Reilly also declined comment on the fate of two other struggling new series, which have not been picked up for a full season, "Lights" and the comedy "30 Rock." "'Studio 60,' 'Friday Night Lights' and '30 Rock' are really good shows with passionate underlying audiences that are back on brand with NBC," Reilly said. "30 Rock" and "Lights" received orders for three additional scripts, a step NBC also took with "Studio 60" before ordering a full season. "Studio 60" has the highest concentration of viewers with a household income of more than $75,000 of any show on television. The series co-stars Sarah Paulson, D.L. Hughley, Steven Weber, Nathan Corddry and Timothy Busfield. I'm glad. I think it's a fantastic show.
What a great episode last nigh, the show is really starting to hit it's stride. I still think it would be better off playing somewhere OTHER than against CSI...but overall, I am very pleased with Studio 60. Anyone else watching ? DD
I have been watching Studio 60, and I also enjoyed last nights episode. I actually glad Studio 60 is after Heroes, otherwise I'd find it hard to sleep after an episode of Heroes. Studio 60 is almost the opposite of Heroes, great writing and acting, just not the plot that catches everyone's attention like Heroes.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Studio_60 It is wikipedia, but whoever writes that page gets their ratings straight from here. The wikipedia article just has it in table format. I thought that the ratings would go up after that Fox News article, but they have actually gone down. Now, the show has pretty much leveled of in the 4.7-5.0 range, which is pretty bad considering the hype that show got.
I wanted to like this show, because I was a big fan of West Wing, but I found the two early episodes I checked out, just unwatchable. I was thinking about giving it another shot last night after Heroes (that show rocks), but the promos they ran before the show made it look just dreadful, so I decided to read a book instead.
It was an awesome episode, and the 2 parter in Parumph was fantastic too...the show is really starting to hit it's stride.....come on back...give it a go... DD
