I'm a big Sorkin fan & found Newsroom to be the least appealing (still watch it) - i think you;d love "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip". Only one season but there is definite closure.
There was such closure @ the final episode that i'm not sure where else the story could have gone. What i really enjoyed was the insight into Sorkin's career through Matt Albie (Chandler Bing)....parallel experiences - down to his relationship w/the lead actress & the friction caused by their religious views (real life Sorkin & K. Chenowith)
Has anyone else noticed that they have a lot lower tolerance for ludicrous bull**** in tv shows and movies as they get older. Mostly, I'm talking about character behavior and motivations, rather than things that are fantastical or technically impossible. For example, I wanted to like Sons of Anarchy and tried to watch it last season, but just couldn't get into it. I was primed to give it another shot this season. Then I watched the episode where Gemma takes Jax to hide at Jimmy Smit's escort service. There is no way in hell Smit's character is going to provide cover for wanted fugitives he has never met just b/c he boned one of their mom's. It just spoiled the whole show for me. Similar situation with Newsroom. Want to like it. Show does some things really well. But the whole plot line where they are trying to get the Republican primary debates and they think providing a more challenging debate format is actually going to be a selling point to the RNC is just too stupid for words.
Another vote for Luther right here. Just finished it and hoping there is more. About to start up the 2nd season of Sherlock as well.
