One of my favorites too. I was too young to watch it while it was on, but the best thing about old shows is you don't have to wait for next week. If you love history, you will love Quantum Leap...great concept. I DVR'ed alot of the episodes. The ending sucks
another vote for entourage. i just rented arrested development season 1, disc 1 yesterday. time to see what all the fuss is about.
No love for Farscape? http://tv-links.co.uk/listings/1/5361 I burned through that series in a matter of weeks earlier this summer. It ran for 4 seasons with a mini-series to tie up all the major plotlines. It's not quite 24ish where you have to watch every episode, there's a fair amount of standalone eps. But I don't think I've seen a sci-fi series match Farscape on pure over-the-top entertainment and grippingly intense drama. They weren't afraid to do anything and come up with any off-the-wall plot-twist, present a dark, grimy, nasty storyline, or show some grotesque visuals. There's about 5-6 episodes in the series that really shocked me because I never expected it to "go there". The first few episodes of season 1 is pure popcorn, but it catches it's groove halfway through the year, and ends the season on a string of episodes that's up there with anything I've seen on TV. And after that, it just gets better and better. Incidentally, the series-capping mini-series ends on just about the most perfect scene to end a show on. So I really can't recommend it enough. P.S. Yes this is the show with the puppets. But don't let that dissuade you. It's a great show.
I was all excited about your review and then this threw me off.. puppets?!? I will definitely have to check it out now
Yes, puppets. It was produced by the Jim Henson Company, so there are a couple of puppet characters in the main cast. Kind of like Yoda. Rygel: Pilot:
One more thing about Farscape. For anybody that might be interested in checking it out, here's the quick and easy way to find out whether you'll like it or not. Just watch the Premiere episode, and then episode 9, DNA Mad Scientist: http://tv-links.co.uk/listings/1/5361 The first half of season 1 is a bit hit or miss, but DNA Mad Scientist is where things really come together and that episode is more in keeping with the tone and quality of the show throughout the rest of it's run. If you watch those two episodes, and the show doesn't draw you in, then most likely Farscape just isn't for you.
Dog Bites Man- Comedy Central series, only ran 1 season. Made by creators of Borat. Zach Galifinakis is on the show. Wall Street Warriors II- An INHD documentary show of Wall Street types. Really well made.
here's another vote for Dexter. I watched season 1 last week, and season 2 starts up in September. Others that have already been mentioned that I like Lost The Shield The Wire Big Love
I'll second m_cable's suggestion of Farscape. Extremely well-written and entertaining show. The cast and characters are awesome, and Scorpius is easily one of the best villains in TV history. Arrested Development (an absolute must-see) Veronica Mars The Sopranos Buffy the Vampire Slayer Angel Firefly Scrubs The Office Stargate: SG1 (eh, why not?) Mr. Show with Bob and David Tenacious D Kids in the Hall
I am a relatively young guy who is married. here are shows I/We have watched begining to end 24 Sopranos Sex and the City Alias (got kind of meh near the end) West Wing (I thought it would be boring but you get addicted quick and you fall in love with all the characters) Lost Nip Tuck - gets kind of crazy in seaosn 3 but season 1 and 2 are awesome. Weeds is great. And they are in seaosn 3 so you can catch up quickly. Entouage is great Big Love- Season one was okay season 2 is really good.
Arrested Development - Like others have said, must-see. Entourage Carnivale Extras - Ricky Gervais' most recent show. I've only seen a few episodes so far, but they were gold.
My brother mentioned how great Arrested Development is, and three days later I had watched the first three seasons. It's that good. I'm seriously depressed that it got canceled. Especially when there is so much other garbage out there that keeps running. My favorite shows of all time would have to be: 1. Seinfeld--no explanation necessary 2. Coupling** (BBC)--I haven't seen it yet in this thread. Ran 4 seasons--one of the funniest shows you could possibly imagine 3. Arrested Development--must-see 4. The Office--while I originally thought that it couldn't beat the British version, it has definitely now come into its own **Don't get turned off by what you've heard about the American Coupling--the one that got canceled shortly after it was created. Completely different.
