I have a 1080p lcd. I understand that I am at 1080i on comcast but I don't know if you understood what I said before but the broadcast looked like they were focusing manually. Never had that issue on any other broadcast. It would look fine after they "focused". whenever they panned in and out was where I noticed it most.
and that's not just competition from the other sporting events. the main competition was the lakers and the rockets airing the games on their local channels as well. so in houston and la the game was on two channels. the selection show is interesting viewing at at 6pm when nothing else was on. the conference championship games that aired earlier that day and went up against the nba didn't do all that great. and the ncaa final has been averaging about a 6-7 rating for the past few years and that's a one-off championship game.
David Stern was on 1560 yesterday. He said the Houston ratings for the Rox/Lakers game actually beat the ratings for 3 Texans games from last season. He was acting like that was a big deal. I had no clue that the Texans got that much of an audience here.
If your TV is a Sony XBRn, then that's the common problem for that TV - Ghosting/Smearing on panning motion (looks like duplicate objects and losing focus). Some Samsung models have similar problem too.
are you referring to the times when the entire screen goes out of focus? because i seen this same problem. the scores/scrolling graphics all become blurry every so often. it doesn't have anything to do with 720p/1080i...tv set..etc. i seen it on my diff tvs. ESPN does 720p and it's never a problem.
Ah gotcha. A lot of folks bring up issues about the 720p broadcasts(FOX/ABC) on 1080i sets. Course, its becoming less of a problem with the 1080p sets.. I'm on a 2001 1080i Mits, next year is when I will be upgrading to a 1080p set.
Yeah, the only way your TV supports 720p without any conversions is if its also a 1080p or an older 720p set. Of course, a 720p set displays 1080i pretty poorly(though it still looks High Definition)
The Lakers are the second-highest road attendance draw in the league, and that probably translates to television as well.
I get the best quality HD through TNT. For some reason it's a LOT cleaner than the other NBA broadcasts. (at least on Comcast)
