"Just because they tell me they want me...or they want to do something bad for me..the one thing I remember is I did get traded here...so you can't tell me how bad you want me."

That is a complete 180 from a week ago. Sounds like Cuban has been in James ear harping on the fact that Houston did trade him. Possibly he hypnotized James. I wouldn't put it pass the weasel.

It looks like we have one day and he is here in H town. He does seem a little peeved even though he said earlier he wasn't holding that against the Rockets.

With James just back from Vegas, I'm guessing that Avery and Mark Cuban filled his ego with derision for re-upping with a team that traded him a year ago. He'll get back home and his wife will talk about family and he gets to stay home and hopefully he will decide his best option is Houston....

And he said 2 years ago that he was going to be a free agent and was out to get paid.

Sounds like he is pissed that he hasnt gotten the deal he wants from anyone. I would be surprised now if he signs with us. The rockets are really showing that they are in "win now" mode.....just BS they wanted to say to sugar coat the Battier trade.

Here is the transcript of what he said on the Channel 2 interview:

“Just because a person tells me they want me, or they wanna do something bad for me…one thing I can remember is I did get traded from here. You know, I didn’t have to leave Houston in the first place and I didn’t give Houston a reason in the first place to trade me…but I understand business is never personal. I won’t hold that against nobody, but you can’t tell me how much you really love me.”

MJ sounded very ticked off at the Rockets in the 2nd interview. I don't think he's coming back. Time for Plan B.

by the way . . . does MJ ever sound not ticked? He always seems to be ticked about something . . . part of why the guy's a good, scrappy player.

Mike James in Dallas would be interesting. Stopping him is easier than Dirk, that's for sure. Hopefully he takes all the shots he wants there. ;)

Damn, you beat me to it. Time to start a thread for Plan B!
Seriously, if MJ is not happy about the money Rockets offer, he would be a cancer even if he accepts it eventually.

I don't know why anyone would criticize him for trying to get the most money he can out of the market.

It was a business decision for the Rockets to trade him, it's a business decision they want him back, and it's a business decision Mike James will make right now.

Not being a "paycheck player" doesn't mean you shouldn't try and negotiate for as much as you can. Mike James has more than earned all of his paychecks so far in his career, and chances are he will continue to do so.

I don't hold trying to get a bigger check against a player, I hold it against them when they only play hard during contract years and disappears as soon as the money arrives.

he could be saying what he said (“Just because a person tells me they want me, or they wanna do something badly for me…one thing I can remember is I did get traded from here. You know, I didn’t have to leave Houston in the first place and I didn’t give Houston a reason in the first place to trade me…but I understand business is never personal. in order to get the Rockets to offer more years by making it look like he's mad. You never know...

If i'm MJ, there is no chance that I would sign with the Rockets. no chance. especially with dallas and miami in the mix. out of those teams, the rox would be 5th on my list. I don't blame the guy either. JVG can talk all he wants, but no one from the houston rockets can tell mike james how much we love him and want him on our team. we can pay him $$$. but we can tell him we love him.

all that being said . . . i hope his wife can talk some sense into the guys head . . .
