On episode 4. Way more politics than previous seasons. Only critic is it has lost the regular people perspective as everyone we know is now mega famous. Even Frankie Adams who has sort of a crappy job and life. Needs more space truckers for me.
I'm only on Season 1 of this show, almost done with it, and I love it. Wish I had watched it when season 1 came out.
I didn't really appreciate the first season until I watched supplemental videos from the Alt Shift X YouTube channel. I recommend watching some of those videos because the show doesn't do a very good job of explaining some things IMO.
Thanks for the link. I love the world they've built. It's a really well thought out universe they've created and I appreciate the attempts to be logical and scientific in the way they lay this stuff out
I agree. I actually like the world more than the plot of the show. There are so many weird cool things going on below the surface of the show they don't spend enough time on. All this cool stuff going on culturally and with the technology that seem alien to the viewer (although plausible), but every one in the show is going crazy over actual aliens is a fun dynamic.
The female and male lead characters are awful. As are the people playing them. Everything else about the show is good.
For what it's worth the book for this season felt really disjointed to me from the rest of the series too, to the point of almost feeling like a side story.
I wasn't the biggest fan of S4 cuz I was expecting aliens(!), but S5 seems to be cashing in on its heavy investment in the non-alien arcs. Belters should be a big power if different worlds open up. Damn interesting to see how that evolves.
First episodes of season 5 out now. Haven't had a chance to watch yet, but surprised there's no thread.
great show, with the exception of the Naomi character, who is unlikable in every way (looks, accent, personality)
Nooo....I might be forced to read the remaining books. It's too bad there's not much reaction for the first 3 eps. It's pretty much the same pacing as last season, which didn't fit my expectations, but with excellent payoff for all that happened before. If they don't put the foot off the pedal, it totally validates all the investment they did last year. That would be brilliant and a big reason that made the Wire a great series. I'm getting sick of Netflix-like/JJ Abrams "resets" where answers to original questions are brushed off with a different mcguffin/question that inevitably turn out to be yet another red herring. Definitely helps this is based off a series of ongoing novels.
