Only saw ya comments now. Beskar/Mandalorian iron has actually been a part of the Expanded Universe/Legend novels for a very long time now and was specifically used by Mandalorians to deal with lightsabers in the Mandalorian vs Jedi war. That's the absolute beauty of it, the showrunners of Mandalorian are doing an immense job at bringing back lore of the novels. You have that throwback stuff in basically every episode now and it's made with the hardcore fans in mind.
Another great episode. Spoiler the 'reveal' happened so suddenly and naturally, it took me a while to notice what had actually happened.
What was the reveal? My Star Wars knowledge is essentially the films, I have no understanding of the universe whatsoever. And because of that I'm not really digging the Mandalorian as much this season. I enjoy watching the episodes but when they finish I'm like eh. Last nght's episode. The whole time I'm sitting there wondering what on earth is the point of the Asian lady attached to Boba Fett. They deliberately put her in action shots when she's got nothing to do with the scene. Is she a token Asian? Is she some important character?
The prequels were very poorly executed and really only John Williams brought his A game, but they really did expand the entire SW universe and really filled it with so many rich ideas. George always had the amazing vision overall. He blew it on little things such as key casting decisions, or giving awful voices to characters such as the Droids, Jar Jar and the Gungans, the Trade Federations, Watto, etc. The Droid army, from the lesser droids to the IG-100 magnaguard's. They lacked any fear element. The sound design was so comical that you couldn't take any of them serious which already weakens everything in a trilogy set around the Clone Wars(a quick scene with young Din Djarin made the Battle Droids more frightening than 3 movies.) Concept Design, he almost nailed everything except i think he really blew it on General Grievous and letting one of the concept artists voice him because he heard a sample from him and George liked it. GG voice ended up being the worst of the prequels for me. Comical and embarrassing. I can't stand him, but he was tolerable in the original Clone Wars season done by the Samurai Jack guys. Lastly, there's the lack of people skills to be a great director. Oh and i hate Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus's names. So lame. Maul wasted just like Boba. What were seeing now is how the Prequel trilogy should have been done. George taking his ideas, not surrounding himself with yes men, and fleshing out the story and design elements and letting other directors handle the director duties AND this WAS George's original plans(for others directing and they likely wouldn't be yes men and let George know if it was bad). Ultimately, i guess it falls all on Stephen Spielberg. George asked Speilberg, Ron Howard and Zemeckis to direct the trilogy. Spielberg says no, it's your baby, you direct them all and George does and the rest is history. Still though, Seeing how well George's prequel ideas integrate with the Original trilogy aesthetic is a thing of beauty.
Good post. The scene where you finally really get to see yoda fight and I can still hear him say “count dooku” utterly ridiculous. A random name generator could have done better.
watched the first 10 mins or so to when bill burr got out and they went to the base... then realized this is just another filler episode so i put it down for later when i have nothing else to do.
It really sounds like you would be much happier if the show was a movie, no? Did you grow up with the original or prequel trilogy? What's your favorite tv series?
grew up with the original series on vhs and we'd watch it often. loved rotj with the ewoks. as for series, i watched saved by the bell back then, followed by fresh prince. but you're absolutely right, i would much prefer a movie. maybe a trilogy on mando.
I've got to say, they are really good with getting the guest star actors. Richard Brake is creepy AF in whatever he is in.
I just loved how much Bill Burr hated him. The tension when everyone was sitting at that table was so palpable. Fantastic stuff.
Bill did a fantastic job. I only really knew him from his comedy (my favourite comedian), never knew he did so many TV roles and acted this well.
