Friday nights have become a graveyard for tv. People just don't watch Friday night tv anymore. Conan's following the Daily Show/Colbert Report model. Plus, Letterman used to not do a Friday show back when he hosted Late Night (he still doesn't technically do a Friday show, they tape Friday shows on Mondays).
I wanna bang Charlyne Yi. I had no idea she was supposed to be on The Big Bang Theory. That would have sucked.
I think the concern isn't as much that not enough people have basic cable... but really does anyone have the channel number for TBS memorized, like network stations? I wanted to watch Conan on Monday night, but I couldn't find TBS in the guide on box and got frustrated searching for it. I finally gave up and decided if something was REALLY funny, I'd probably hear about it online (like this thread) and find a clip on youtube. I think the combo of finding TBS and the youtube competition are the real problems...
Sorry to hear about all the frustration in finding TBS, it's 51 or 651 for HD on Comcast. Also for some reason, picturing someone getting frustrated by not finding a channel with all the resources readily available to find it and then giving up and decided to watch clips on the internet if it turns out to be funny sounds like an SNL skit or something
Most people know where TBS is. Its a well known cable station. Like I have said in this thread before, I probably watch TBS more than any other station on TV.
"If Terrell Owens called a timeout in overtime, it would be TO TO in OT. Who says I don't know football."
Still haven't watched him... He has the misfortune of being on at the same time as Stewart/Colbert. Perhaps I should DVR it. I've always liked Conan.
All 3 shows are on at multiple times. Conan re-airs after lopez and stewart/colbert are rerun about 10 times a day
That's why i don't get the "he's going against colbert stewart" criticism. i didnt know conan re-aired after lopez until i noticed it last night.
Great episode tonight. Michael Cera interview was great Julie Bowen was really hot and the standup at the end was hilarious
Back in 1986 and 1987, Hanks and Conan worked closely on a series of sketches that appeared on SNL, most notably the "Girl Watchers" sketches with Jon Lovitz. The two had a good relationship throughout Hanks' appearances during Conan's time at the show, as O'Brien was about as close to a principle writer as things got for someone like Hanks, despite the presence of a shockingly-good writing unit (with Bob Odenkirk and Robert Smigel among them). And to us close Conan-watchers, even though Jack McBrayer has been on 30 Rock for four years now, I still think of the myriad skits he appeared in for years on Late Night. This speaks to O'Brien's ideas about how show business should work. I doubt Jay Leno will be bringing on George Wallace or Richard Belzer on any time soon, if you catch my drift. He's not "better than that." He's best. He has a heart.
I thought the standup was funny too. Kinda rough start with his joke about leukemia that I think threw the audience off, but he finished strong.
The leukemia joke is where I lost it, I thought it was hilarious. The crowd was a bit apprehensive, but I could not stop laughing.
