link spoiler Spoiler http://www.putlocker.com/file/7F2800DAEFC5A6BC# plot spoiler Spoiler The investigation for this episode is weak - the storyline was too large without enough time dedicated to it, but it's just the begining of the arc so hopefully it's tied up in a satisfying manner. Plenty for the audience to think about between wrapping up last season's plot and the start of the 'new/true Moriarty' (likely connected), and the glimpses into the Holmes brothers' thought process was gratifying. Next episode on Sunday! Looking forward to it
Spoiler Agreed, this was a pretty weak episode. I was looking forward to a grand re-entrance but this episode felt like there was too much filler. It felt like they side stepped Sherlocks genius and instead focused on his mind games and theatrics
so i am correct in saying they never explain how he faked his death? Everything he told was suggested to be false stories?
Spoiler Yes, the writers are mocking their viewers and all the theories out there since the Richard Brook episode ran. I think they'll show us the truth in a later episode since we're just starting out on the 'travel around the world to kill Moriarty's business links' story.
That was dumb on the shows part. If they wanted to give a false answer once for fun (like the opening scene) thats fine. 3-4 times is wasting the viewer's time.
Its pretty much sums up why I am not a big fan of the episode. There seemed to be too many mind games though out the episode. Another example is at the end when they were in the subway car. It seemed 15 minutes was dragged out for a 5 second solution. The game Mycroft and Sherlock played over the hat was another. There were some parts that I felt like I was watching a Kubrick movie. However, I do think Molly played a big role in it and she was one of the very few, if only.

Just finished it and I guess with how high series 2 ended, it would be tough to keep up. I like the show when it stayed concrete and the imaginary stuff that I didn't like from Hounds of Baskerville (s02e02) made its way back. Not enough of the deducing process replaced by too much of Sherlock closing his eyes and thinking real hard with some trippy graphics. And I don't know if it's the right term, but it felt too campy.
Yep. Overall felt a bit underwhelming relative to previous episodes, still enjoyed the episode though. Lacked the usual depth and just felt like the ep was centered around trolling everyone who thought they had the fall worked out, hah.

Spoiler So Sherlock's explanation was not true? I've watched the death episode a few times and it made sense with what he said. Did I miss something?
Spoiler Andrerson said it: Anderson'd be the last person Sherlock would tell the truth to. And the story Sherlock told him was too similar to one of Anderson's own theories. This whole episode was basically a 'thank you' to fans for making the show so big, and they played a little game with them at the same time.
I really like the first episode. I thought it was hilarious how they were openly mocking the fans with various thought processes of how it was done. Not just that, actually, the whole episode was a mockery of sorts.
Fans have been waiting for over a year for this new season that consists of 3 episodes and the show runners spend a whole episode mocking them? Like I said, if they wanted to do that one time (ex. the opening scene) that's fine, but they did this multiple times and never gave the real answer. That was time they could of spent on elaborating the main mystery of the episode which was kind of soft/weak.
That's good. The second episode of series 1 and 2 were usually the weakest episodes of their respective series.
Nice episode. Gave the viewers a chance to keep up with the investigation. Are there many Sherlock Holmes stories remaining? I haven't read too many but I know they've cherry-picked from a lot of the stories so there's a limited number of episodes that's possible for this show.
Just watched the premiere. I really liked it, even though the case-of-the-episode wasn't exactly a brainteaser. The episode really showed off the acting skills of Cumberbatch and especially Freeman, showed us just a bit more of the relationship between the Holmes Bros., intro'd Mary Watson, and gave Molly more (and welcomed) screen time. I know a lot of you wanted more of the "deduce" part of SH, but I think this was a great episode that reminded us about the top-notch quality of the show. Overall, great episode to set up 2 and 3. Spoiler You'd think the killer would be smart enough to arm more than one bomb. After all, what if something happens to the main bomb? Unable to receive the signal, connections being bad, Sherlock turning the bomb off, etc. Spoiler Mocking isn't the right word - the writers aren't trying to put the fans down, but rather, to build intrigue. The first scenario was too simple / action hero-y, the second was LOL-worthy, but the last one was pretty logical and well-thought out. If anything, introducing three, albeit false, ways Sherlock could have fell and saying they were all false, makes me even more vested in how Sherlock truly pulled it off. This episode was all about the relationship between Holmes and Watson. Granted, the overall case wasn't as in-depth as previous episodes, but this episode was particularly endearing. The quality of acting between Freeman and Cumberbatch, in addition to their chemistry, really shines through. Joker did it in TDK, with his scenarios as to how he got his scars, and I don't think anyone had a beef with the repetition of stories. Again, it's to build intrigue (even though the first one would have been pretty obvious, and the second one just impossible lmao). Spoiler In hindsight, there was a 5 second off-switch solution. Which is weird, considering I never see an off-switch in American TV episodes that deal with defusing bombs. Guess that's the British being British? The 15 minutes was great! Sherlock teasing John the entire time because SH wanted forgiveness? (albeit declared under stressful conditions? lol) More good acting by Cumberbatch and Freeman.
