A lot of you guys should read Max Brook's "World War Z". Not trying to compare this series to that book but it answers a lot of questions you are posting.

Specifically the questions about the military and how they were overrun. Brooks portrays this in vivid detail when he depicts the Battle of Yonkers. And why would you lock yourself inside a tank? How long can the human body survive without food or water. And the guy who brought up the heat factor, bravo.

I for one think The Walking Dead series is awesome so far. Too many complaints about "not enough zombie facetime". Well it's a tv show...not a movie. If they did nothing but showed zombie fighting and zombie killing the series would burn out pretty quickly. I think it's awesome they are establishing a story around the zombie apocalypse.

I do think it has a lot to do with it, considering his post was 95% how he didn't like the show because it was different from the comic, then he went on to admit he would probably like the show more if he hadn't read it.

Everyone can have an opinion on the show, but chances are if you are comparing something to something else that you love the entire time, you're not going to like it as much.

The Battle of Yonkers literally had chills running up my spine. They just kept coming.

The human body would survive long enough. Once the battle went to hell and the military was totally overrun on foot, the soldiers in vehicles could have driven away. That a TANK was overrun on a city street is silly. Just keep driving.

Edit: To further expand on this, do you believe that if we could time travel to the days when European settlers first landed on these shores that Native Americans could have overrun a tank in a battle?

Perhaps a tank wouldn't be effective at actually killing anything, but without weapons, explosives, etc. they are not going to be able to disable a tank, PARTICULARLY if they are not capable of problem solving and rational thought like zombies aren't. Maybe I think too highly of the military in that I don't believe a tank operator would be stupid enough to be ineffective and just open the lid of his tank and get killed instead of pushing the gas.

False why? A comic book depiction of something happening doesn't mean it is real lol.

Clearly none of this is real... lol?

That was concept art from the Battle of Yonkers in World War Z. Not a comic book.

I'm not trying to start a debate over a fictitious topic but I was simply stating that in the Zombie genre people have depicted vivid scenarious where the military in all it's might was easily overrun.

it's ridiculous for me to argue any of this...but if you haven't read World War Z, you should. really, really good. and it talks about exactly what you're talking about, specifically.

Logistics of fuel and repair might kill the tank...in that time travel scenario. Those logistics are probably what did the Tank in on the show. Just ran out of gas.

    Question about power.
Has anyone seen Aftermath: Population Zero on NatGeo?
Remember they said that a few days after all humans are gone and the nuclear power plants are down they will begin to fail, explosions would occur and radiation would be released into the air.
Wouldn't this kill all the remaining humans? Or should we assume that when the zombie outbreak occured the operators shut down the power plants?
    :)

It went into a battle without enough fuel to get out of it? Damn, the US military is stupid if that is true. If things go bad our tanks don't have enough fuel to turn around? What happens if they won the battle? Soldiers have to carry the tank out of the city on their shoulders?

Max, I wish someone would explain how the scenario plays out for me because I don't understand it.

The show is OK. What bother me is that there are too many obvious plot holes. As have been discussed, in the department store, one minute the group is frantically trying to figure escape as zombies threaten to break through the glass front door, but moments earlier or later, they are wasting time talking about necklace and the dead guy they are disembowing.

I think civilization is fine. The survivors are the zombies.

part of it was the numbers...it has attacking zombies in the millions. and it talked about how when you win a normal war, you suffer casualties...but in this one, your casualties were immediately enlisted into the other side's "army."

but there's something more...i don't have the book with me...but it's something about the best weapon being a precise shot to the head...and that in the panic of war, that's difficult...and it all being so intimidating and overwhelming. that the best weapons for real war weren't good for this war.

i'm doing a bad job remembering the problem precisely. aside from that, if you're interested in the genre at all i think you'd really enjoy the book.
