Last night was definitely an awesome episode. I never read the comic it's based on, but I agree that it has been a good, dramatic series that focuses more on the lives of people following a zombie apocalypse rather than people fighting/escaping it. I like that perspective. Rick and Jim were both strong points. Rick you could tell was on the brink of total collapse in this episode...by the end he desperately needed for those doors to open for a number of reasons. And Shane and Rick, I'm gonna love seeing that relationship play out, seeing the temptation in Shane's eyes as he was looking through the sight of the shotgun.
Put me in the "this show sucks" camp. Its only redeeming quality is the zombie production values, which are without peer. Here's a good review :
That review pretty much sucks. First why wouldn't someone pause to offer a moment of gratitude, of tribute, to a corpse they are about to desecrate, a body that once was a living, breathing person who very well could have a wife, a daughter, a brother. Rick comes across as a character of pretty high morals, so why would he just start chopping up a body without flinching? It's the same thing Tom Hanks did in Castaway. Just replace chopping to pieces with taking shoes. Then she basically trashes Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile, two outstanding films, one of which is a definite classic. She loses credibility here. Sounds to me like this critic wants a basic, done a thousand times, zombie gore-fest. God forbid we actually get something of a little more substance. The show isn't perfect sure, but it's a hell of a lot more engrossing than most things on tv at the moment...imo.
I watched the first two episodes of this show and have the past 2 downloaded. Not going to far into analyzing the show but it seems like it has to much humor involved and it lacks the seriousness and suspense that most zombie movies have. I wish it had a feel similar to 28 days and 28 weeks later. Those are awesome zombie movies.
Maybe it was a little long...sure there never was too much tension during those scenes; never got the feeling the zombies were posing any kind of threat to them. But I'd like to think I would stop for a brief moment to honor the guy...I'd like to think I'd have a little humanity left to pay my respects to someone I'm about to cut to pieces.
The same exact thing applies to every single zombie they're up against in the show. When Morgan (the most convincing character in the series so far, unfortunately) struggled to shoot his wife in the first episode, that was understandable and created a very emotional moment. Rick's pre-evisceration speech? Not so much.
Just watched the latest episode. The show is getting worse imo. I can't stand the main character. Maybe it is just because I play Left 4 Dead too much but it frustrates me watching them make dumb decisions on a regular basis.
I think the point is though, they've had to kill so many of them and they've seen so many people they know die that they've all become numb.
I just started watching it and I've seen the first two episodes and I'm hooked! I love zombie movies and zombie games so this is right up my alley. I'll catch up on the next 4 episodes later on tonight.
Deadline Hollywood is reporting all the writers for this series were just fired by Frank Darabont: Link to story: http://www.deadline.com/2010/11/the-walking-dead-lets-go-of-writers-considers-no-writing-staff-for-season-2/
Hmm...Mr. Shawshank fired all his writers. Kind of unrelated but... Didn't George Lucas reject Darabont's Indiana Jones script because he didn't like it?
Hmm....I'd say it's not as bad as it sounds, there are essentially at least 5 years worth of storyboards via the comics. Still, having the same writers comes across in a good series.
He did, but Darabont's script was waaaay better than the crap that was put on the screen. Any Indy fan should read it....made me so depressed knowing what could have been.
Wow I dunno what's worse...that all the writers were let go (doesn't show confidence in the product) or that it might not return until next October. That's an insanely long time considering the last episode of this season is next week.
THE WALKING DEAD PRODUCER DENIES MASS FIRING http://twitchfilm.com/news/2010/12/the-walking-dead-producer-denies-mass-firing.php
this show is disappointing to me. I really enjoyed the first few episodes, but its gotten a lot worse imo. the characters are just not interesting and to be honest, they are just annoying for the most part. too many dumb mistakes and strategies. Oh, and for a zombie show, there are not enough zombies.
Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I thought the finale was quite solid. I will note that I did feel a couple of the episodes lacked, but short season, so take it for what it's worth. Look, I know it's a show about the zombie apocalypse, so I try not to over think things. I watch it, and I simply like it or I don't like it. And if I didn't find it entertaining enough, then I obviously still wouldn't be following the show, and thus writing this now. Bottom line...they still got me for season 2....whenever that may be.
