Turns out the Matt Bonner 3 WOULD have counted if it went in

    Did Bonner make the shot?

I'm sorry, but do you actually believe timekeeping can be fixed when it's run by human operators?

My sister almost burned down our house by leaving a curling iron on lying on the carpet while we were all gone to church. When we discovered what had almost happened, you better believe we still talked about it. The Rockets almost got burned, but didn't. We still like to talk about it, even need to talk about it. Considering your user name, you probably don't talk about it until after the house burns down.

This discussion is quite relevant considering what happened in Portland, what almost happened in San Antonio, and what very well could happen in the future. First of all--never thought I would say this--but the Rockets need to practice missing a free throw. There should have been no time left. Second of all, the refs need to get their facts straight so they can answer a question correctly when asked. Finally, I agree with what everyone else said about the need for review and not depending solely on a human time keeper when there is a fraction of a second left. No game ought to be subject to whims (purposeful or not) of a time keeper. Ask the 1972 US Olympic team about that.

I think if we had that guy, we'd beat the Lakers no problem. ;)

Yes, you are definitely missing someting. Nothing that going back and reading the thread or perhaps the other two on this subject couldn't cure! ;)

I STILL feel like that Roy shot might haunt us as we assess final standings.

What he got away with was flat out murder, great shot, great drama, but plain wrong.

Hometown clocks, Hometown refs, Superstar calls....3 ridicolous aspects of the modern NBA game.

if that is true then it is wrong. You simply cannot catch a shoot a ball with .3 seconds left.

Exactly. Likewise, when the Spurs fouled Scola on the previous possession, I believe there should have actually been a bit more time on the clock. I was watching League Pass with the Spurs' announcers, and believe me, they were positively apoplectic about it.

Once again, delayed reaction. I bet over the course of the season, any errors due to clock operators' reaction times even out.
