Actually, if you would have asked me before who would support JVG and who wouldn't, I would have told you TK would support him in a heartbeat.

Wilbon disagreed in part because they both can't ever agree on the same thing (then why have a show), but also because he represents the LEAGUE, as a lover of the NBA.

TK is a huge JVG fan, and everything else only NY or east coast. JVG is clearly an east-coast guy, and TK is a huge Knicks fan. He loves Roger Clemens because of NY. He loves Yankees-Sox, and Pedro because of how he's pitched against NY. The only misplaced love is his infatuation for Kobe... but the Lakers are the NBA's equivalent of an "east coast" bias, so I guess it sort of fits.

JUAN and DAOSHI, I too often questioned why does the league(Stern and the refs) are treating Yao like that. It does not make any sense, Stern wants to take his NBA act globally and especially CHINA so why would you want to mistreat the biggest global star of them all : YAO

RACISM SOUNDS BETTER ALL THE TIME!

I doubt it's racism, just overcompensation. If Yao started getting a bunch of calls in his second year there would be a huge backlash of people accusing the league of giving him calls based on his appeal to prospective new fans. I think the league is just trying to avoid that backlash by screwing him over for a few extra years.

Yao is in the process of earning that respect, but it has taken longer than expected. The best thing that I hope comes out of this fiasco is a) Yao gets pissed off, works his butt off in the offseason, and b) the attention caused by JVG will lead to some reevaulation of how Yao is handled, and a few changes will be made. We'll just have to wait until next year to see how things turn out.

Props to Justice for talking about all the crap Yao has put up with this year.

They had a segment on Yao's foul trouble on Sportscenter....

Legler basically said that Yao takes a lot of dumb blocking fouls (and rightfully so) but also pointed out some ticky-tack **** that Yao's often called for.

Basically said that if Yao would go up and try to block every shot, he'd eventually earn some more respect and refs would give him more of a benefit with regards to questionable contact.

Either way, all this talk will bring the spotlight to how Yao's treated by officials. If Yao has to sit because of his own fault, I'm fine with that but some of the BS will be cut out as well due to all the attention.

Thank you Jeff Van Gundy. That was a 100 grand well spent. Well spent indeed. :)

They did say on SC, that Yao will gain more respect if he would go up more often for a block.

Yao is too soft in their eyes, that is he goes for charges too often. They showed a clip last night where Yao was called for a foul when he tried to take a charge from one of the Mavs PG's.

They also showed a pick set by Yao, where he was called for a foul last night. They said, there is no way he should have been called for the foul. There was barely any contact, and it didn't affect the play.

Another thing that will get better is passing to the post, hopefully. They showed Yao's 4th foul on Henderson on some show, and yao was basically trying to keep the guy from coming to the front for like 5 seconds. We can't leave Yao on an island wrestling with some scrub. Just pass him the ball quicker and more accurately and let the man work.

Which brings us back to the point: Do we get a PF or a PG during the offseason? We could use a tough gritty defense minded rebounder or a PG who can actually make an entry pass.

That's what $10, 000 is for. Thank you JVG.

Stern, by overreacting with the largest fine in hostory for a coach is actually helping to bring the attention of media to this matter.

    :)

Both. We're either gonna bring in that dude from Europe at the point or we are gonna draft one or we are gonna sign one along with a PF.

I still like Stephen A. Smith...

but I hope Tracy and the team heard him say "The Rockets will not win the championship."

Cause I know if I heard that about my team, I wouldn't take that sh*t.

that was from game 4 not game 5 and the worst part of that play was it was the 5th on yao and it had no bearing on the play being run anyway. horrible call but what else is new during these playoffs?
