How does being a constitutional scholar give you credibility on commenting on sentencing decisions and comparing them to other crimes committed in other states and different circumstances? If he wants to say a law is unconstitutional, fine. But given his known associations (aka biases), his criticisms seem less to do with his constitutional interpretations and more to do with his loyalties.

So apparently breaking into the capitol building and encouraging people to break laws to disrupt the certification of a US election and put lawmakers in danger is not a serious crime deserving of even 5 years in prison. Meanwhile black people get shot for not doing precisely what a cop tells them to do. Or running away after a traffic ticket is grounds for them to be shot. Wish conservatives would find some kind of consistency here. If these rioters had been black people who stormed the capitol, Trump would have issued the order to shoot them all down and called them thugs. "The fact that we had a bunch of our traitors in office hunker down, put on their gas masks and retreat into their underground bunker, I consider that a win." Sounds like terrorism to me. Also, when you make a threat against the VP with a note left IN HIS DESK that justice will be served, you pretty much should automatically go to prison.
