He may have been told to go home by the team; he lost his job to a second round pick on a minimum contract. Doesn’t help his all time low trade value or the Rockets at the moment. Best solution is to just stop the madness—> fake injury or something.
It a business sure, but NBA is very much a people business. The players (on the court and bench) is literally your product. I say this not as a neg to the players, saying they're assets, but to highlight they are the most important. The GM, coaches, the trainers, the coaches, the ball boys, the cheerleaders, the HR; are all just support; satellites around the main planets: players. Unless PJ is asking too much, as an organization, you do things to not sour the relationship, at least to not get to that point. You treat them with respect, and yes sometimes with white gloves. Do it not just for the #1 or #2 guy, but all your main players. Because if the player gets disgruntled, maybe decides to phone it in, the org end up losing leverage in trade talks. It's in their interest to not super low ball in contract extension, where the player feels disrespected. It seem both parties tried to keep it professional, they just can't agree on the number. Mutually agree to not play is the best option until PJ moves to a new team.
He needed a bounce back season this year to prove he still had business being on an NBA court, instead he proved exactly the opposite. If we could trade him for a top 59 protected 2nd rounder, it would be a steal. He has negative value.
