It does nothing to tank his value you stooge. You and the other “shut up and dribble” people should understand that.
Good for both of him & us. No reason to have a 35 year old on our team. PJ deserves to chase a championship in his waning years. He's not doing it here. Hopefully we get a 1st or a young player. But if we can't yea he should be bought out.
If you don’t understand the difference in negotiations when you have the option to say we’ll keep him if you don’t cough up more and now forced to take a deal since he’ll be bought out otherwise and it will cost them nothing, then logic is lost on you.
Article says very little but on the podcast Winderman says that they should not trade Herro or Robinson for a Tucker type but yes on a Vucevic type. Compares Vuc and Oladipo as similar players value level wise but the extra years help. Maybe Oladipo commits to a 2 year extension with them at his max like he denied here to facilitate a deal? Winderman also notes that KZ was hurt by not going to the G-League and he needs reps. He even slipped it that his future was going to be restarted if he's "not traded" KZ please Raf.
I don't know how believable it was for the rockets to say "we will keep him unless you cough up" even if he is still playing. We have been shopping him for the whole season. That's just an empty threat, no one in their right mind believes we will keep Tucker beyond the deadline
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...rated-traded-return-houston-rockets-uncertain Wow - the front office has lost complete control. DD
Overreacting much...Tucker thinking he’d get 24 million for a team that is not contending, sorry but that was just not going to happen. He has been alright this season, but not even a contender would pay that seeing his current body of work (literally). That is just the way it is and I respect the man and Stone should’ve worked harder on trading some of these guys sooner, that is for damn sure, but Rockets cannot help it that all of a sudden PJ decides he no longer wants to play.
They should just fine him.....no money as long as he is out, but try to trade him..... This whole pay them while they refuse to play is just wrong. So much for the warrior play at all costs mentality that he allegedly has. DD
I think the question is whether you end up having this trade as the first deal during deadline season. Ideally, you want another team to set market value with a trade. Let's say Lamarcus Aldridge garners a first rounder and young piece - you can use that to lobby for Tucker who is basically the same age, has a better injury history, is a much better defender, and will spread the floor better than LMA. Tucker's salary is also a fraction of LMAs and LMA will be expecting a much bigger contract in his extension after this season than Tucker whose reported ask was 2 yrs for 25M. Without an LMA trade though, you are negotiating in the dark. You're also trying to sell when there are too many players still available - when it gets closer to the deadline and players get off the board, teams get desperate and will up their offers. So to me you sit and wait for the next two weeks with Tucker out and trade him as close to the 25th as you can. There's no point in jumping the gun just because he doesn't want to play.
I don't understand why he's upset in regards to the time? If we didn't trade him, and it's after the deadline, then I'd understand. It takes two teams to complete a trade, and the Rockets have to get the best offer. I will always be a fan of PJ Tucker, but he's ending his Houston tenure in almost the same manner that Harden did. Disappointing.
yeah I don't get this either. Did PJ think if he continued to play he would trick management into keeping him? Silas would have played him a couple minutes then benched him so he wouldn't get hurt. Holding out is hurting the Rockets position in moving him. what a dreadful season.
exactly. especially in his case, he lives for that dollar bill, dude is a ridiculous shopaholic. this "i'm just not feelin it" BS is the dumbest shiit i've heard from any rocket all season
not really apples-to-apples here... No one in the organization ever asked for PJ's input on the roster, and it was never designed around him. He's a role player, he will help someone else with his limited skillset. He can't help this team. For what Harden did to this team... d**k move. He's dead to me.
He was never getting the value you think he was getting sheesh, a lot you just dont know jack **** and it shows.Him sitting out does nothing.
LOL @ PJ .. was offered a decent contract if he really wanted to stay and he tried to get cute and countered with a BIGGER salary request??? Yeahhhhh take care PJ.
