so if i walk up to a person on the street and grab their crotch, but am not turned on by it, it is not sexual molestation? i doubt that would hold up in a court of law!

i cant speak to your level of intelligence, but it cant be too difficult to understand how what the TSA is doing is sexual molesting. its all semantics i guess - should i just call it 'groping'? as far as i am concerned, groping is a form of sexual molestation so i dont see how anyone can take issue w/ me characterizing what the TSA does as such.

here is how the pilots unions felt about it...

I don't think it's high at all at mid- or small-market airports. They're the only people in the airport who aren't booking or directing flights, loading and hauling stuff around at full speed or cleaning the most heavily used public bathrooms in the world. And with the hours they have they're probably making some sick overtime or solid regular pay.

If it were your job to search persons on the street, with the legal authority to do so, and done within that legal authority, it would not be sexual molestation.

If the TSA agent who legally searched you before entering an airplane were to grab your crotch on the street, we would be in agreement over your perception.

It is the initial search as a legally authorized entity where we disagree. You erroneously equate the two to make your point. That's the difference you do not want to acknowledge because it makes it sound so much worse to call it sexual molestation.

Edit: based on your definition I could claim my doctor raped me at my last physical.

From an article on PrisonPlanet, but I thought it fit perfectly on what you were saying.

So then you would agree that since TSA have no power of an official of any type of authority that putting their hands on somebody's genitals is a crime. They have the same authority as security at retail stores and mall-cops. The only difference is that security at retail shops and mall-cops call the police to search somebody that appears to have committed a crime.

The Aviation and Transportation Security Act established the Transportation Security Administration, within the Department of Transportation. Under that authority private firms handle airport security under the authority of the TSA, with the ability to search travelers since there is a legitimate need to protect people from the possibility of being blown up.

Is there a need to protect us from the possibility of being blown up? Based on past experience, I would think so.

Is there legitimate debate on the limits and legalities of the searches? Sure, that's why were debating it here as well as the courts. I tend to lean toward the need for protecting our people.

Is there a legitimate debate on what probable cause may be? Sure.

If you don't believe they have the legal authority, I can understand that, but would agree to disagree.

Protecting people by treating them as criminals seems to put me at a lost. But do you not think it's odd that a private sector has given itself superior powers that are seemingly an offense to the 4th Amendment? Do you think that this particular person was searched reasonable? It saddens me that America is scared because of one person. I will bet when the backlash is getting bigger and bigger there will be another airplane scare.

Simple solution: Do what the Israelis do.

    1)Profile.
2)Interview everyone with TRAINED security professionals before allowing them on board.
3)Station TRAINED security professionals to watch parking lots and other areas inside and outside the airport to watch for specific behaviors.
4)Stop worrying about offending a specific group of people. You want to fly? Then deal with the process.

there would never be just cause to do that kind of job, just like there is no just cause for the TSA to be doing what they are doing. it is in fact, illegal, a violation of the 4th amendment as well as a violation of basic human dignity.

basically your position is that since the government claimed the "legal authority" to sexually molest people it no longer qualifies as such. how orwellian.

im just calling it as i see it. grabbing womens breasts and groping random people and sticking your hands down little kids pants is by definition sexual molestation. just b/c someone is arbitrarily given "legal authority" does not make it ok.

making 95 year old women remove their diapers is just so wrong - i am disgusted by those who defend such actions.

not even police, w/ 10x's the training of the TSA, can do this. and as i have pointed out several times, these new procedures are totally unnecessary and in fact, put passengers more at risk by creating bottlenecks at the point of entry.

no you couldnt. there is a medical reason for sticking his finger up your poop-shoot. it is part of an overall check-up. there is no justification for the TSA to be doing what they are doing.

getting groped/sexually molested by some glorified mall security guard should never be a condition to travel in the united states of america. "legal authority" or not.

the israeli method is simply not practical here - there are only like 50 flights a day out of israel compared to thousands in the u.s.

i would prefer they just follow procedures already in place before the "enhanced interrogation"/body scanning was put in - if they had been doing that 9/11 would not have happened and the underwear bomber would have never made it to the gate.

because it's a typical ToyCen thread from abovetopsecret.org that he puts in hangout.

and then he gets the same attention like every other duplicate thread he makes or puts in the wrong forum.

seriously, can we have just one sticky ToyCen thread?

dude is tired and predictable like my grandma.
