What kind of mental defect causes you to fail to grasp the difference between "land of the free" and "land of the lawless?"

And you call me a dumbarse...that's rich.

As already noted, Shovel Face is putting on a Randian persona while regurgitating her terminology and sociopathic talking points. And like yet another person alluded to, Shovel Face doesn't seem to or have raised an issue with Church demagogues who happen to be on the top list for a typical Rand villain who "oppresses and steals" from "hardworking and productive people". The rant about community service should be obvious. The implication is that all Church goers do it because they want to. Guess what...another person mentioned that too!

Pretty boring and trollish diversion to what started out as rich conversation. The posts before it makes me want to read more....

One thing that is endemic to our relatively young culture is our failure to recognize or accept paradox. "If there's a problem, then fix it." "If there's evil, then smash it." "If there's crime, drugs, or terror, then declare war on it." We are the world's living experiment for idealism.

It's also our strength when we are committed, but if we lose focus if feel entitled or have some sense of inevitability to it.

Anyways, this could be why the political debate between extreme atheists and believers is framed to a way where they're two sides of the same coin. Extreme believers (particularly American Christians) feel their God and His rewards will be proven through their works. Whereas extreme atheists want God to be proven to them whether through works or works of science.

Of course, I'm only talking about a particular segment of atheists and believers. Most would stand in the middle and have different reasonable differences of opinion. Yet this is how the popular debate is being depicted in the media. Strange stuff.

Not saying anything is wrong with that all but just pointing out how the Left doesn't embrace complete freedom in a similar way to the Right.

To borrow some Biblical language humans are also vengeful, wrathful and lustful and unfettered moral freedom would also likely cause all sorts of troubles too. As I said before I think both the Left and the Right have their own doubts about freedom but tend to focus on different areas.
