Are teams allowed by the League to tie such deals to players? For eg, if Lin is traded. The sponsor is obligated to continue the deal, with Lin's new franchise, at that team's discretion.
This is exactly what I mean by not having a native ear. Faith is a quality internal to a person. To have faith in God. To be faithful. Whereas "trust" is taken in everyday language to be external, to imply someone should place trust into you (which is presumptuous). One may reply, but "Trust in God" has same meaning; alas no, because that is a rarer usage.
He would have said "I am Stone" but it could have been heard as "I am Stoned". Speech is not always as accurate as writing.
And being tied to such deal, when Lin contract is over, he could potentially hold Morey hostage for a much more higher salary. Imagine an ultimatum. You give me 12 mil, or I walk away with the 1.2 billion I bring to Houston. But ofc Lin's nature is very loyal and kindhearted so I doubt he will do that. What a smart move by Les and Morey. Got a player that will make you billions of dollars but at the same time won't hold you hostage for more money.
That's what made NY so fuking stupid. All the money Lin brings to the owner it would be used everywhere else to improve the team. Why worry about the cap space when the owner could afford to pay Luxury Tax?
but it's true. was finding my way around taipei, and had a group of teenagers come up to me and give me directions and pay for my cab.... it's NOT POSSIBLE for that kind of anonymous hospitality to exist anywhere else in the world!
So this makes the 6th Chinese company to sign a sponsorship deal with the Rockets, joining Maxxis tires, Kenda Tires, East west bank, ZTE, and Peak. For those of you who are complaining about Lin's contract. Keep in mind that these deals would not have happened if it were not for Lin being on this team and they more than pay for his contract.
Do we really want DWill in his current version for Lin now? LOL. Oh Well, if so, next year will be a good time to do it. The salary will match better next year.
Oh well, that is good business, Les. Now just tell the coach to give Lin more minutes to keep the sponsors coming.
I really can't see Lin being much of an impact on marketing anymore after this season. the linsanity thing is long gone, and never coming back, and he's struggling to play at an average level right now. Other than trying to pull in Lin only fans who aren't rockets fans, i don't see it doing a great deal for us anymore. the hype has long died down about him.
