Trump's Tax Returns - NYT

They are two separate issues that should both be dealt with.

I would support a reasonable investigation into how the information was obtained.

However, if the information is true, then it is going to color the public opinion.

The issue with Wikileaks is that we did not know if the information was true, and we do know that at least a few had been altered.

With the Trump tax returns, again we do not know if it is valid. The problem is Trump has zero credibility so when he claims it is all false, it falls on deaf ears.

 

Can you imagine if Trump wins a second term and they get divorced and she decided to speak out? On one hand I would think the news coverage and the information release would be to the point of being surreal...... on the other hand I think we have seen Trump fatigue, and perhaps everyone would shrug their collective shoulders and not really care.

 

We don't know if he did or did not do anything illegal. He is still being investigated for deductions that are in the tens of millions of dollars. Trump denies that these are his tax returns, so we don't even know if he has or hasn't donated his salary. He says he has like Kennedy did before him, but we don't know because he consistently lies.

I think more of the issue for some people is the fact that they are working class and pay more in taxes than Trump. That is backed up by the fact that Trump in the past has criticized the poor for not paying taxes and said they should have some skin in the game if they want a voice...... all the while Trump has paid zero in taxes 10 of the last 15 years. That will irritate some voters.

I agree with those pointing out that the real problem isn't Trump but the laws in place.... but it is bad optics, especially when you are the President that was stealing from veteran charities and ripping others for not paying more.

 

It is very, very likely that Trump did something illegal and will be prosecuted by NY state after his term ends unless he or Congressional Republicans can construct some kind of weasely backdoor immunity.

 

Let's not forget the US Taxpayers pay him everytime he takes one of his golf outings and weekend getaways to Trump properties. There are receipts that show Trump properties have been overcharging the Secret Service and we've also seen military stays diverted to Trump properties.

trump provided a bunch of financial info to the tax attorney/accountant, who filed the tax return.

included in those financial info are consulting expenses, which are deductible on tax returns.
as reported by NYT, there was 750K consulting fee paid to Ivanka, who is also a Trump co employee.

if true, that is illegal double dipping/ PR tax evasion. Trump co was paying employee $750K without withholding any PR taxes on it.

also hush payment to the p*rn Actress and the Playmate were also grouped as deductible business expenses.

The Trump Empire is essentially in an irreversible controlled fall. Like a person who pays off credit card debt by opening more credit cards.

Having an elected official, let alone the President, who is financially over-leveraged is beyond a bad idea.

That's not even speaking to just how gross and unethical the details of the actual disclosures are.

This revelation won't peel off any Trump voters, but it may get a few non-voters off the couch because it is another straw on the camel's back of this President posing a legitimate threat to the fate of the country.

 

There is evidence that he used campaign funds to pay off Stormy Daniels which is also illegal.

 

FWIW, he has publicly donated his salary equivalent on a quarterly basis to various government entities.

He'd save us a lot more golfing less, but that isn't going to happen. To Trump's credit, I have no idea how he finds the time to golf, campaign, tweet, and watch OAN & Fox News as much as he does. Of course, the salary was supposed to be for absolutely none of those things, so giving it back is the only thing that makes sense.

Honestly, I'm not a big Trump guy but I don't see much that's surprising here. The only real gotcha is that he doesn't seem to be quite as wealthy as he claims but only real Republican homers and idiots believed he was. I think if you were to audit taxes of most wealthy americans you would see similar things.

This is mostly and indictment of the tax code that disproportionately favors the wealthy business owner.

 

I know you're grasping at straws here, but the "I don't see the outrage" pretty much sums up Trump voters in a nutshell.

He's a scummy tax cheat (how long does it take the IRS to determine his $72,000,000 writeoff was a dodge), and whose massive debt leaves him vulnerable to foreign influence (and we've seen plenty of evidence; he looooooooooooves dictators).

His entire presidency is a giant grift. He's willing to burn down American democracy as a get-out-of-jail-free card. And you don't see a problem.

 

So here's the thing though: we're all up in arms about the $421M that's set to be owed in the next few years. However, it's fairly obvious the debt is owed to Deutsche Bank, who is serving as an intermediary for Russian oligarchs and the like. But, for someone like Putin (or his contemporaries), the money itself really isn't all the important. They'd rather lord the fact that Trump OWES them money over actually ever receiving the money. This way, they get to continue having a Puppet-in-Chief running the largest superpower on Earth. The debt is being paid back through economic destabilization, the continued deaths of our population through COVID, and the canyoning of our unity as a people. The seeds of discord that Donald Trump was able to sow in a ridiculously short amount of time has to be worth more money or riches than ANYONE could ever pay back. The damage has honestly probably already been done.

 

That should go straight to jail when his term is over.

 

Not to his supporter they are loving it and will believe anything he says.
