No doubt this is an election season phenomenon but that being said Trump actually did criminal justice reform. George Floyd's death probably pushed that ahead admittedly

Again i posted this because of of the Ice Cube. Im not promoting Trump as the candidate for blacks

I will say this, Democrats generally care about black people more than Republicans. That being said i find it interesting that Trump has no problem promoting the same solutions to black problems

Like, trashing Obamacare because (1) we don't want government forcing good things on us and (2) Republicans want to kill off Obama's legacy (this is the main one).....and replacing it with a plan that includes the protecting pre-existing conditions we want to take away from you (there is no plan, by the way).

Yes he did do Criminal Justice reform and do it bipartisan. It's the one thing I will give him the most credit for but this "Platinum Plan" is another the Emperor has no clothes things that Trump does.

You can like it because of Ice Cube or whatever. That doesn't mean there is much behind it. A lot of in it could've been done already and just like a lot of stuff he says.

Trump has no problem anything he believes will help him win. He doesn't care about the target audience other than helping him win. He has no intention of implementing any of it

But he has implemented some of these things. Presidents can only do so much

I will say this. Trump is the first Republican since Nixon to actually discuss problems directly connected to the black community, and provide a "plan" that would in theory involve helping lift up black people, rather than throwing them in jail. While I do not for a minute believe that Trump cares about black people, at least he made it a point of debate. A smart Republican analyst is somewhere looking for a compassionate Republican without a track record that can present a "plan" well enough to split or take the black vote from the democrats, because THAT would be a winning program. The candidate can then use that as an opening to secretly pursue less popular goals like over turning Roe v. Wade, the elimination of public schools, etc.

They can do a lot when they want to and their party controlled both houses of congress. Especially on issues like this where the opposing party would agree to the proposals. But of course he doesn't want his plan to pass and has zero intention of trying to get it to pass.

He has a track record of this.

Read Nook's post above yours. Whatever his motivation is he does address the issues

That being said i don't know what point you're trying to make other than criticizing Trump as just trying to win. Whatever you feel about Trump there are probably things he really does care about

As i stated earlier Trump isn't stupid in terms of selling and Republicans would be smart to just give in on some of their"principles" to get black votes

Chill out..all I did was point out that this topic has been discussed. This in no way was a condemnation, just a point of fact.

On safe urban neighborhoods, do you think Chicago neighborhoods are as safe as suburbs.? Do you think would like them to be safer? How do you think blacks feel when a relative is a harmed by another black? Do you think blacks like police then?

Not that I expect anyone to be keeping track of me here, but my attendance has been pretty spotty since Covid. But, I was alluding to the fact that the media news sources I expose myself to have not delivered this particular story to me. Its a credit to the bbs that I learn about things here I don't see elsewhere. But there is also some combination of Trump not promoting it loudly enough and mainstream news deeming it unworthy of airtime resulting in my not hearing about it until pgab brought it to my attention. It's still some bullshit though.

    The thread topic I originally referred to was that Trump rolled out the Platinum Plan on or around 09/25. For folks that read that thread and wanted to see the link I tagged you in in this thread, they could easily find it via google or by going to the Trump campaign site;

    https://www.donaldjtrump.com/media/...-opportunity-security-prosperity-and-fairness

JuanValdez indicated that this thread was the first he had heard of Trump's platinum plan. (fact). I replied that the platinum plan had been the topic of a thread 2-3 weeks ago. (fact). It has also been discussed in other threads. (fact) No where did I say to JuanValdez that pgabriel's current thread had already been discussed. (fact) For some reason you got upset. I am not sure why. As another matter of fact, I was able to provide the link you wanted to post but didn't know how. (at least I assume so since you liked my comment and didn't call me old man).

Just pointing out that there was another specific thread in case you wanted to root around...I saw a number of stories back when it was first proposed. It came to light again in recent days due to Ice Cube's involvement.
