Some of what you are implying didn't actually happen. People weren't forced to take vaccines. They weren't forced to separate from their families.

The issue here is arresting judges and the executive branch trying to intimidate an equal branch government to lessen the checks and balances.

    They lived in Stowe Vermont.
My wife and her family used to do Christmas there at their lodge back when she was young.

Trump wants to be King, where the rules don't apply to him, and his justice system of loyalists ready and willing to bring the hammer down on anyone on Trump's wish list. It's already started.

Pam Bondi turning DoJ into Trump’s ‘personal law firm’, top experts warn

The transformation of the Department of Justice under Bondi has put a premium for staff on “personal loyalty” to Trump, say ex-prosecutors, which has damaged the rule of law and provoked multiple rebukes from courts and the resignations or firings of veteran prosecutors.

“The steps Trump and Bondi have taken using DoJ to punish enemies and reward allies while firing those who object radically transforms and politicizes DoJ in a way that not even the worst who have gone before them ever contemplated,” the former federal prosecutor Paul Rosenzweig said.

“Trump’s transmuting DoJ into his personal law firm is, in effect, a rejection of the founding principle of the rule of law.”

Some veteran prosecutors who quit the department after Trump and Bondi took office say that the pair’s first moves raised red flags that prompted their departures.

“Bondi has made clear – before becoming attorney general, and since – that she wants the Department of Justice to support President Trump unconditionally,” said Mike Romano, who resigned from the department in late March.

Before he quit, Romano spent almost four years working on the prosecutions of Trump allies who stormed Congress on 6 January 2021 in an effort to thwart Joe Biden’s certification by Congress.

Romano said that the night Bondi was confirmed “she issued a memorandum to all justice department employees in which she threatened to fire employees who refuse to defend the Trump administration’s actions, advance its arguments or sign its briefs. She and her subordinates have made good on those threats by firing people and forcing them to resign.”

“Never in history has DoJ broken so defiantly from respecting, as it’s obligated to do, the decisions of federal courts,” said the former prosecutor Ty Cobb, who was a counsel in the White House during Trump’s first term. “This is a war that Trump and Bondi are waging against the rule of law.”

It is the Trump administration sending a message to the Judiciary - including the SCOTUS.

We have seen this before. Honestly - those in the legal profession that choose unfettered wealth or some degree of wealth over protecting the system and the people that it protects - are on par with men that kill women and children… and in some case worse because they come from privilege.

History doesn’t remember these people well and Pam Bondi is no different. She has no respect from her colleagues.

He puts his loyalists and die hard MAGA folks in charge of the FBI, as Attorney General, and positions of power to go after anyone on his enemy list, and squash any investigations of his own criminal activity. Gee, sounds like a lopsided justice system to me. These are all the ones who all backed Trump's lies and conspiracy theories. Patel, Bondi, and the rest.

Just today he put another loyalist in power. He is appointing Fox News host and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro the interim US attorney for Washington, DC.

No surprise that he's picked another Fox News host, conspiracy theorist, and die hard Trump loyalist.

Some of Pirro’s broadcasts were included in Dominion Voting Systems’ historic defamation lawsuit against Fox News, which the right-wing network settled for more than $787 million in 2023. Another voting company, Smartmatic, also sued Fox News and named Pirro as a defendant in a case that is pending in New York state courts. Fox News and Pirro deny wrongdoing.

Pirro’s enduring fame and Fox fortunes have, in the past eight years, been tied to her Trump support.

    No surprise here either ...

During the final day of Trump’s first term Pirro lobbied to make sure the outgoing president pardoned her ex-husband, who had been convicted in 2000 on conspiracy and tax evasion charges. Pirro succeeded, and the pardon was Trump’s final official act in office.

Another far-right conspiracy theorist, Trump loyalist, and election denier gets appointed by Trump to head of a new Weaponization Working Group and as the U.S. pardon attorney from a perch in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General.

Martin is a hyperpartisan activist with no experience as a prosecutor, is known for consorting with antisemites and the far-right fringe of his party. He was in the mob outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, posting on social media that the violent riot that day was marked by “faith and joy.”

He has often echoed President Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was rigged, declaring on the night before the Capitol was stormed that “true Americans” should work until their “last breath” to “stop the steal.”

He has spent the past four years raising money for — and in some cases defending — people charged with joining the mob. And when the House committee that investigated Jan. 6 sent him a subpoena, he never complied, risking criminal charges.

And this week, he posed for a photo with a top Trump ally who has pushed for retribution in a social media post with a caption reading, “Justice is coming.”

In fact, as Mr. Martin has leveled accusations against Democrats for engaging in so-called lawfare and proposing prosecution as a consequence, his comments have sometimes sounded as if he is advocating the very practice he has decried.

Once upon a time I thought they were the people that regret the south losing the Civil War
    but
Now I am convinced they are mad that England lost the American War for Independence
